re: The First Grand Vitara on Team-BHP [14 years & 150000kms]

Just had my front shock absorbers changed. Placed an order through a MGP outlet and both arrived in 2 days time. Cost Rs. 10,200 per shock absorber. It was a pain to replace one of the shockers as the bolt between the shocker and its mount had seized up.

Changing the rear shocks next week. They were cheaper at about 3000 per piece.

Hi All, does anyone know if the door locks can be programmed to auto lock when the car is moving?

I think they can be done. Spoke to the MASS here when I took my GV to them, they said that auto lock on moving will be possible. However, had to leave early so couldn't get it done.

The KYBs are INR 10500 for the front pair and 5200 for the rear pair. There are a couple of shops selling KYB at Palika bhavan in Delhi. I got mine for around 13500 (front pair) a few days back as i did not have the time to look around for the best price.

Could you share the KYB part nos?
Did you find any difference in ride height and quality?

Thanks

The KYB part nos are 334464 and 334465 for the front and 343435 for the rear.

The KYBs are good. I have recently purchased a used GV and had got the front struts replaced immediately hence not sure of the ride quality with OE struts.

re: The First Grand Vitara on Team-BHP [14 years & 150000kms]

There is a recall in Australia for MT vehicles.

https://www.productsafety.gov.au/rec...i-grand-vitara

It seems to be related to 2.4L models with MT gearbox. All VIN nos are for vehicles sold in Australia.

Folks with MT gearboxes should check if their VIN nos date is in the date range of the list. If dates are nearby we will need to badger Maruti for clarity.

I am looking at overhauling the complete suspension by changing only the bushes. My MASS is reluctant to do only bushing refitting and so I may get it done outside. I need the parts nos of replacement bushings of the following:-
1. Bushings of Front Lower Arm
2. Bushings of Rear Trailing Rod
3. Bushings of Rear Control Rod
4. Bushings of Rear Lower Arm
5. Bushings of of rear Upper Arm
6. Mounting Bushings for Rear Suspension Frame (4 nos)

Thanks

Hi Sridhar,

I get the part nos. from the catalogue at the following website:

https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dl...8/jb420w-18238

You can then cross check the same at www.boodmo.com which is an indian spares site.

I have recently ordered (and replaced) the window weatherstrips for my 2.4 GV from boodmo.com.

Hope this is useful.

Mods: I have no commercial affiliation with boodmo.com and the reference to this site is just so that it is useful to fellow bhpians.

re: The First Grand Vitara on Team-BHP [14 years & 150000kms]

Hi Guys

I finally got the Grand Vitara 2.0, 2007 from a friend. It was discussed in this thread. It is white and has done 90,000 kms. I am officially part of the Grand Vitara owners club here. I guess this will be the best thread to discuss issues related to maintaining the Grand Vitara.

I loved the drive, Engine and AC are in excellent condition, but I need to get some things done.

I gave it to my trusted mechanics today for basic inspection, and to fix the horn and the slipping self.

Immediately :

Horn (Done)

Self (Starter Motor)- Bendix Slipping. It has the Mitsubishi self, and we are unable to find the Self Bendix. Any pointers will be really useful.
MGP wholesale outlet in Mayapuri, Delhi has no Grand Vitara parts at all in stock, they tell us that they can only give the complete self for about 15K but that also will take time (2-3 monts). Is this the situation for all parts ?

My mechanics are used to getting parts made for lot of imported cars and they told me they will get the existing bendix repaired perfectly. I would rather have it replaced if I can source it.

In the next month
Power Steering Leak
Clutch overall

I will keep bothering for sometime when I need some info from.

Thanks
Styler

Congrats on your latest acquisition.

For any query related to your Grand Vitara's spare parts, you can ask me anything on this thread:

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ries-here.html

I am not sure about the Mayapuri unit, but LMC automotive of Kashmere Gate(MGP store) was very helpful. There is a chap named Santosh who can help you out. Just make him realise that you are a genuine customer, since I have seen people troubling him uselessly, as a result of which, he sometimes denies genuine customer too. Grand Vitara's spares aren't in stock in any MGP store, but they can place an order for you and procure it within 5 days maximum. If the part is not in stock even at the main MSIL warehouse, then the import from Japan takes about a month.

Shashi

re: The First Grand Vitara on Team-BHP [14 years & 150000kms]

Hi guys

This is about the 2007 GV Manual 2.0 l that I have just got.

Does the Grand Vitara 2.0 Engine have a timing chain or a timing belt. If it is a belt what is the recommended kms when it has to be replaced.
The rear quarter panel glasses are dark. Either they are factory tinted or there is some exceptional quality film applied. I can't really make out. Did the GV 2007 come with Normal window glasses or tinted ones ?

I will be replacing the main fan belt too.

A competent electrician can set the bendix right. I got my Corolla's bendix rectified and it continues to work well even six years after repair.

Thanks, that gives me confidence to get the bendix repaired. My Electrician is very competent and was insisting that he will get it repaired perfectly. I was still not sure of the reliability and was pressing him to find a replacement. Now if that is not available I will also tell my electrician to get the current one fixed.
