Hey new on the forum. just picked up my beast on the 15 May and its already ready for the first service. already done 1140 kms. its the king of the road, just had some problems with putting the reverse gear. the lever gets stuck sometimes, rest is smooth as silk. i think shud not drive safari in the third gear below 2000 rpm, best to shift gears between 2000-2300 rpm. first and second gear smooth throughout the rpm range.

If you had asked for it, fine. Is it really needed?

They have charged 41 odd for a bulb that costs 6 in tata motor spare part shop?

15w40hp engine oil - hp 5.50 @ 151.88 835.34
279018130106 oil filter indigo 1 @ 149.14

The above was the items put in my Marina in its last service @ 40000kms about 10 days back. Your oil at 165 is just Rs 13 per litre costlier. Plus your oil filter at 161.78Rs is 12.64 more.

What is the oil change interval? Mine had a oil change every 8000kms and a checkup at 4000kms.
Every 15k in normal condition. 7500km if in city .

Seems they use it these days by default. Interesting though.

Congrats! The gear issue will go off once you cross 3k or so.

Hi,

That is the longest oil change interval that I know of! Good and they use just mineral oil.

I am told that for the turbo charged enigines (indicas and its cousins), the oil change interval now is 10000kms (up from 7500 before) and I can vouch that my Marina's oil after 10000 kms was still good and the level hardly reduced.

They are just making money!

Though I am not so sure as to whether a ECU change will do the trick.

There are too many Safaris with the noise.
With somebody mentioning that the Krr sound may also be due to EGR I have been reading up on EGRs. There may be a logic in the same.
EGR valve with a valve diaphragm and spings ,comes in to play during mid-range acceleration may also be causing the noise. Chattering ?
Now I donot know who TM is procurring the EGR system from but ADC's post that this vehicle does not have the noise and (maybe) the 1st batch vehicles did not have the problem - got me thinking.

Maybe the Gurus can throw some light on this matter

Don't wait until another 13,000 kms before your next oil change At the max, and this is pushing it to the limit, oil change intervals should be 10,000 kms.

hi guys (jkdas in particular), sorry to spam this thread. posting a comment here.

I hear the kind of noise(s) mentioned above, but am willing to live with them. Like a concert on wheels . My only concern for now is the engine temperature. Somehow get a feeling that the engine is heating quicker than it normally should, inspite of driving around the 1500rpm range. The needle of the gauge hovers often at the half mark, and sometimes crosses it too and waking up the radiator fan. Is this normal, or, anyone else facing it?

Didn't find any cardboard placed in front of the radiator, though. Also looked for the coolant level in the tank, as suggested by Dr.trrk, and it's more or less at the max level. Suggestions please.

I had got these done with my dealer Fortune Cars,Powai. I later understood that he must have got it done from an agency called morpheus(they do the interiors for DC vehicles) and are located somewhere in Marol,Andheri. I had paid Rs 9500 for the seat covers and Rs 8000 for the wooden finish door trims. I understand there is another dealer in Andheri (W) Lokhandwala, M A Car Studio.

The interiors look great. I too need to get nice art leathers.

Added alloys. Got them from Steeroid.

On my safari the temp needle stays on half mark at all times... sometimes im idling for over 45mins with the ac on in the afternoon any it yet stays in the centre.
