How about this car? IMHO, one of the best Q-cars ever.

sajo: That's the exact same Mercedes we had years ago (not the W123 one we brought down to India). Down to the colour & wheels, though we had the 380SEL. IMHO, one of the most beautiful S Classes around. Ever.

I'm guessing there was the famed 6.3L V8 under the hood on the one shown above. And no, BUSA, no jet engine, though some would argue that the 6.3 wasn't enough.

Coming to the Mercs, they used to have a popular 'delete' option in Europe, especially for the W124 series, which had engines ranging from a 2.0L I-4 diesel to a 5.0L V8 petrol, with engine output ranging from 78odd HP to the stonking 322 HP in the V8.

The delete option was simple - remove the engine / model badging from the boot (the only way you'd know what the car was running), & nobody would know if you were driving a diesel slug or a bahnstormer. Verrrry effective.

Thats fantastic man! A W116 with the 6.9 L V8 is got to be the ultimate Q-motoring for the time. Heck, even now. Also,I had seen an immaculate W126 560SEL moving off from a standstill a few months ago here, and I say, has surprising agility for a vehicle of its size.

The 300 SEL "6.3" (W109) had the above mentioned 6.3L V8.
Man, I just looooove the idea of a biggg V8 in a biggg car which enables 5 passengers in comfort to keep up with Porsches and Ferraris. Like the W124 500E.

hmmm .. i think mine qualifies as a sleeper .. my vast knowledge and experience suggests that the " Q " effect is enhanced if the body is bashed by coconuts and has dents all over .. and waiting for 0 - 60 puts u to sleep .. err .... whassay elfie ..

All German car makers Merc, BMW, Audi still have this option on all their cars & in Germany particularly you see a lot of de-badged cars. Infact one of the better sleepers I came recently was a 3-series with the 5-litre M5 V10 powerplant. Only thing was that it had big alloys, no wings, no spoilers, no bodykit.

Scared a lot of 911 drivers on the autobahns apparently who thought it was just "another" 3-series!!

I voted for " What are you talking about"...Since there should have been more options..For people who like to keep their cars as Stock as possible with No engine/No performance mods and no Body Mods..!

Offtopic

Since I just read about de-badged cars in a few posts above and am too lazy right now to go through the thread and figure out the context .. just like to mention that incidentally, my OHC is totally debadged and nothing on the interior/exterior says "Honda" or the "Logo" - except the engine bay ofcourse.

I could explain why I did that but it gets too complicated
