Thanks for all the inputs. I finally bought another model of AstroAI inflator. The inflator is pretty compact, has 3m cable, and reaches 3.8m with the included clip type extension. That is enough length to reach all 4 wheels of XUV700. Inflating from 30psi to 33psi took 44 seconds. Pressure guage shows around 1PSI higher than the TPMS reading. While compact, the shape causes it to tumble easily. Overall build quality including the braided hose and the screw type connector feels great, the clip type connector looks average. It is relatively silent too No carry bag included.

A picture for size reference.

I wanted to buy VIAIR but their recent price hike to Rs. 7850 from Rs. 6650 was steep. I got the AstroAI with a coupon on Amazon for around Rs. 1390; a steal deal.

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

I was searching for an inflator/ pump for my XUV700 and chose the Bergman Typhoon (BCT - 150D) model. Received the consignment yesterday and tried it this morning. Though the chord length is mentioned as 3 mtr, the pump did not reach the front LHS tyre. I even tried folding the second row seats but still it was short by about 6 /9 inches.

I then tried filling the back tyre and 29 to 35 was filled in about a minute or so ( I did not have a watch though). The pump was noisy though, more than the noise produced by the XUV engine at idle.

Finally decided to return the pump on Amazon.

I was also looking for an inflator for my XUV 700 and my biggest concern was making the inflator reach the front wheels as XUV got the port only in its book.

I finalised the TUSA Digital Car Tyre Inflator, which exactly reaches the front left wheel with ease. Another advantage is the flip-type connector which is much more convenient to use than the screw type which comes with most of the inflators. It has an auto cut-off feature and can be used to check tyre pressure as well. The best thing is the pressure displayed is exactly the same as XUV's TPMS. Overall happy with the purchase.

Been using Agaro tyre inflator for my XUV700, nothing fancy but gets the work done.

Pros:
  • Its 120w which matches with the port wattage in our XUV (dint want to hook it up to car battery)
  • Wire length is enough to reach all tires.
  • Has auto stop with digital readings.
  • Clip type nozzle + attachments for other uses.
  • Has light for use in dark
  • Also works on 220v (My main requirement)
  • Fills air at pretty decent pace
  • Comes with a carry bag
  • Got prompt calls confirming warranty registration post purchase

Cons:
It's most probably a Agaro branded Chinese make so long term reliability is unknown.

Thanks to both for your input.

The TUSA https://amzn.eu/d/aEsy8Ur was also considered, but finally decided on the Bergman due to some long term reviews from fellow members in this thread. I have submitted the return request but the material will only be picked-up on 12th. In the meantime I'm searching for the extension chord from MS @ Rs. 399.00.

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

I recently got a Michelin 12266 tyre inflator, my first portable one

Compact, tidy dimensions with a good quality pouch. It can easily nestle amongst other pieces of luggage even in a small boot.

I liked the fact that the cable and hose can be tucked away in a cubby along the periphery of the inflator

Cable is sufficiently long but maybe just in my case since the Octavia only has a 12V socket in the boot.

I have subsequently been using a USB C - 12V socket adaptor

Backlit display and an LED light takes care of dark spots

The nozzle is of the screw type and fits securely on the valve for hands free operation (don't mind the minimal hisses upon screwing and unscrewing). Operation noise is bearable with absolutely no wobble or ungainly vibration from the inflator. I would have liked the power button to be visibly distinguished between off and on positions, the push button belies its actual position, startling me while connecting to the power socket

Did you check the Power Delivery capabilities of the USB-C socket and the attached fuse? While the USB-C PD specs supports 100W (20V, 5A), the spec does not support more than 5A. That means, at 12V, you would get maximum 60W. I don't think the adaptor is a safe approach to power an inflator as it's unlikely that the socket and and the adaptor can align on a out of spec handshake. There's a good chance that something in the circuit may overheat or blow a fuse. Only way I think this can work is if the adaptor can handshake for a higher voltage, and then stepdown output voltage to 12V to give a higher current. Very unlikely that the USB socket in the car or the tiny box in the adaptor can do this.

You are absolutely right and thanks a ton for your timely intervention.

I should probably consider a 12V socket extension cable of the right rated power, till then utilise the 12V socket only

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

Got Woscher 802D for our Red Innova in Nagpur from Amazon for about Rs 2000/-

https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07K5KV9V4/...v_ov_lig_dp_it

- Feels like a brilliant inflator and very sturdy build at such a decent price point.
- During inflation remained stationed at its position without dancing around like others I have experienced.
- Sound loudness is as with any other inflator.
- Decent filling speeds.
- Nice to hold handle.
- Comes with couple of nozzle accessories, spare fuse and in an ok bag to stow it away under seat.

Why do you need an extension? I also have the same inflator and don't see any issue with the cord length with any of the cars I've tried.

Instead of a 12V extension, you are better off getting a direct battery to cigarette lighter adaptor like this

Re: Michelin Tyre Inflator Review (Model 12266)

Posting my experience with 2 tyre inflators.

We have got the Woscher 1610 which is good enough for our 2 wheelers and hatchback. For our 8 seater, we got a Bergmann Typhoon metal inflator (both of these are with analogue dial).

The Woscher is simple, but it gets hot quickly due to being housed inside a plastic body. The Bergmann is well made (except its grab handle, which is plastic and feels flimsy) and the metal body is supported nicely with the rubber foot. They both have sufficient length of wiring but the hose of Bergmann has more length, which is super convenient if the valve is in the top position.

Bergmann is almost 80% more expensive than the Woscher one, but I would still recommend it due to its better build quality.

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

Please help me with a query.
On my WINDEK 1902, I always have to unplug the socket after it auto shuts on reaching desired PSI before it runs again for another tire. I end up doing it 3 times for all 4 tires to do a top up. What step am I missing?

I recall seeing the answer somewhere and thought will try next but now I do not have any idea how to do it.

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

I have been using a Michelin 12266 Tyre inflator for the last six months and have found it to be pretty handy. It’s compact and very simple to use that my son has taken on the responsibility to check tyre pressure and fill it if required. The digital display and auto cutoff features are a boon, just plug in, set the pressure and that’s it. In fact you don’t have to set the pressure every time as the last set pressure becomes the default setting. Doesn’t make much noise and also it doesn’t jump around. Easy to carry and cable is also long enough.

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

People using the Michelin 12266 tyre inflator, I've been using one for the past 3 years mainly to fill up after fixing a puncture. I've had no issues with it yet.

However from day one the buttons to adjust the set pressure and to change PSI to Bar to .. don't work properly. In fact I had ordered on Amazon so after using the first time, I returned it for another piece. This also has the same issue.

Anyone else facing this problem or has figured out how to set without fumbling around?
