Got the leg guard and the sump guard installed at the dealership only. My purpose of installing the sump guard is just to prevent mud splashes on to the engine, and it will be easier to clean too. Changed the black coloured alloys with the Genuine dual tone/machine glazed alloys from Royal Enfield. These look much better than the stock alloys.
Have ridden it around 175km, mostly on highway, ride quality is just awesome, the suspension is perfectly tuned, neither too soft nor stiff. Being 6 feet tall, I like its riding position better than Meteor. Will be using it only for leisure rides on highways. Extremely satisfied.
Congratulations on the purchase.

How much did you have to pay for the new alloys? They look gorgeous on the bike.

Thanks, as the gunmetal grey comes with alloy wheels, from the factory, just got them changed at the showroom. I was charged ₹2000, for this by the dealer. I had checked online over the MIY, which was adding around ₹3500, for this change, so I suppose I got a good deal.

Any idea what the waiting period is for the new Classic 350? The sales folks in the dealership say 45 days and that's what the estimate waiting period on their app shows on booking.

Is that a reliable estimate or should one be prepared for a longer wait?

Re: 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350. Edit - Launched at Rs. 1.84 lakhs

Just saw a fine discussion on the retro bikes, in this category in India, it has just echoed my thoughts, regarding all the bikes compared. In 2020, I had taken test rides of both the Meteor as well as the Honda Highness, and before taking the ride, I was more inclined towards the Honda, having owned a Hero Honda CD100, during my graduation days, it gave a bit of nostalgic feeling. But with the test ride, that changed, the Highness just felt like riding a bit bigger Unicorn, which I had at that time, the Meteor gives a proper big bike feeling (compared to the 100 to 200cc bikes), but the seating position was not according to my taste and height, that is 6 feet, the seat felt a bit too low. So I started waiting for the new Classic, and got it.
Here is the link for the video.

Thank you very much for the update.

I booked mine on Oct 10th, hopefully should receive it soon. I had used the customize option through MIY - added alloy wheels to the Halcyon model. Hopefully the customization does not delay the delivery.

Thanks Gurmeet...precisely the reason why a lot of 40+ folks would pick up the classic and I am falling for the same reason too

Re: 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350. Edit - Launched at Rs. 1.84 lakhs

Just wanted to share a DIY modification which I have undertaken on my Gunmetal Grey Classic 350. The engine of the classic appeared a bit dull in the dark edition black colour. Whereas in case of meteor the same engine with polished or glazed cooling fins, of the cylinder head, appeared much better and upmarket. Even my 2010 Honda Unicorn had glazed fins. Searched the net, how it could be done. Borrowed a Black & Decker rotary tool from a friend, and spent around two hours on a Sunday evening, and the looks of the bike changed dramatically. Used sanding drums to give it a uniform look, at tight spots, did it by hand using sandpaper. Attaching the before and after pics. Also got the backrest from the dealership and installed it myself. The bike is running fine, have covered around 1300km with no issues at all.

Congrats. How are the touring seats? Do they increase the seat height?

Lovely pics, especially the first one.

Looking at the name badge and list of accessories this should be a MIY booking. When did you book?

Unfortunately I have been waiting 65+ days booked through MIY and no update yet.

Thanks!

Have not done any long rides, but whatever I have ridden in the city the seats feel very comfortable. but they do increase the height marginally.

Yes, it was a MIY booking done via the showroom (RE company Showroom). I had done the booking on 10th September 2021 and got delivery on 7th December.

They are extremely slow when it comes to MIY bookings. Do a lot of follow-ups.

That is a long wait indeed...almost three months. Looking at the kind of responses I am getting from customer support I wont be surprised if i have to wait another month. The showroom guys have been of no help at all. They just don't answer calls or always say will call back in 5 mins and never call back.

It's frustrating
