Dear RX,

Did find out about the new Activa that is due in Feb? Honda is promising more than only sticker changes.

Can you also elaborate on what features/Specs u liked about the Access over the Activa? I am not in a hurry so if there are justified advantages, I will wait for the Access to be delivered.
Your comments would be of great help.

Activa Makeover- News courtesy Vibhor

Hey Guys...

Check this out.. A nice piece of information from Vibhor onthe Automotive India website..

Yes ! And Honda insists that this is not the regular change of stickers or addition of more colour options (as Honda has been doing for the past 7 years). Honda is quite serious this time, and people ready to buy the Activa have a very good reason to wait till March 2009. Honda Activa the master piece and sales phenomenon from Honda Motor Cycle India (HMSI) is set to take a rebirth - How cool is that news?

Activa has definitely re-written the scooter arena in India by conquering the minds of Indian customers. With its first of a kind, well refined 102CC engine with silky smooth smoothness, it worked well for Honda and its customers - just like Bajaj’s scooter trump card the Chetak. Now HMSI is making major changes to its Activa to keep up with the existing competitive market conditions.

Two different variants are likely to be launched - Activa and Activa Deluxe.
Both variants will be powered by a more powerful new 110CC engine. Existing vario-matic belt driven transmission to remain.
In Deluxe variants ‘Combined Braking’ will be introduced, by which one can stop the vehicle by applying any one of the brakes.
Existing Activa’s 100% metal body will be converted into selective metal parts, so the kerb weight of Activa may come down - resulting in better performance and higher fuel economy,
The Activa Deluxe will be getting an additional feature, illuminated luggage box. Our sources said both the Activas share same looks and styles and there is no major changes other than explained above.
This Activa will be launched in first quarter-2009.

BTW Do we have any Blaze owners?

I guess I will wait for the New Activa or Blaze if the review is good. Its 165 cc s compared to the 102cc of Activa.

Any idea when the new Activa will be launched?
the Honda dealer in Mumbai has no clue of the date and price but is aware of the arrival. He also have no information n the changes.
I have been owning the blaze for more than 2 1/2 yrs now. If you are living in Pune, i dont think you would have problem for parts/ service or so... Kinetic is known for their bad service, unless you are shelling out more money for proper maintenance, the service is fine. I never had parts problem, i have only replaced my Tire, Fuel Filter, Rims, and headlamp which was readily available. However the build quality is not that high. Its fun bike with lots of power in it. If you are going to own be ready to shell out more for the service.
Just a note in paint job. I taken red blaze but afters 2 yrs, i have been noticing that the paint was detiorating slowly and the paint coming out as well. So i re-painted my bike to Matt black recently(check my gallery). Hope this little info helps.

I bought two products from Kinetic. First Blaze (sold) then Flyte. I would not suggest anybody to buy any kinetic products after many problem faced with Blaze and 3 break down with Flyte.
Most funny answer given by Service person on Law college showroom were
1. I had Fuel leak from the tank and answer I got because I had filled up the tank to top.
2. Head lamp fuse - reason - Because I do hard breaking. If I drive at speed and do the sudden breaking there are chances of headlight fuse.

hi,

we want to buy a gearless scooter.Following are options considered:
1)Suzuki access
2)honda Dio
3)Honda Aviator
4)HH Pleasure

Honda active is not there since we own one already. it will be mostly used by ladies and occasionally by males. the problem with pleasure and dio is their front suspension with access its price and with aviator is its styling. Please give ur suggestion.

Regards,
Ladies!!?? Also, from your other post I read your mother will be one of those ladies.
Pleasure is a better option then. Diminutive Activa it is.

Regards,
You've an Activa; Pleasure and Dio have the same front suspension as in Activa.

Access and Aviator (disc brake option too) come fitted with telescopic suspension which should be better than the ones in Activa/Dio/Pleasure.

Why don't you have a look at the newly launched Scooty Streak and take your sister and mother along for a TD?

I just read in the current issue of Overdrive that the new Activa with better suspension and all old problems solved will be launched in March 09.

I am sure they will pick up whatever is missing in the current Activa and better it.
There are 2 models that will be launched.. Activa and Activa Deluxe.

My copy is in the office, I will read all the details tom and post them..

Sym flyte

Adv: Front filling petrol tank, Lots of space under the seat, Front telescopic suspension, seat height is less compared to Aviator & Access, larger wheelbase and good handling

Dis : Very bad A.S.S, Electrical issues

If only A.S.S was better, it would have been a good buy!

As you had mentioned that it would be used by ladies, i would suggest you to test drive TVS Pep + as-well

The new Scooty Streak has the same engine that does the duty in the Pep+, i.e., 87cc and 5bhp. The streak has the convenience of an easy access fuel tank and also has 90/90 tyres (Source) which I think is better than the 3" ones in the Scooty Pep+ (atleast on paper, I haven't taken any TDs).

I would still be very apprehensive about buying a Mahindra Kinetic (soon to be) product.

The Scooty Streak looks like a mix of the Bajaj Kristal and some Chinese scooterette! Also, why is Sania all over the website!!!! Okay agreed that she is the brand ambassador but give me a break. I want to look at the scooterette and not her always!

But the scooty streak looks so much like the Sym Flyte head-on. Yet to see how it will fare though. Should be a hit with the college going crowd atleast.

u can consider even scooty pep,the scooter has really great features,
1)storage at front,
2)Telescopic shocks at front for better control and comfort.
3)easy to put on stand its really amazing and light.
4)Reliable engine which is also fuel efficient and had decent power and power delivery.
5) best head light in all the scooters.

After seeing your post went and check the site, other than the design all technical specs are similar between Streak & Pep+! Also, the placement of fuel tank is not looking right as we have to get down to fill petrol inspite of having an external fuel tank.

I enjoy owning a kinetic flyte, but stopped suggesting this vehicle to others because of the A.S.S. other wise its a fantastic bike!
