I agree with Roy_libran and taurean bull. The 1.5 Tdci has a linear power delivery rather than a sudden rush of power. I prefer the latter,to each their own. You'll definitely feel it underpowered when you are in high spirits.
P.S: I don't own one, but these are my findings after 3 detailed test drives on ecosport.

Don't the two contradict each other?
I will clarify here that being a low revving engine the Eco sport doesn't sprint but is of a more relaxed in nature . This aspect is obvious in city traffic where you have to do a quick overtaking at lower speeds 20-60 kmph. On a highway even though lacking in performance in high rpm once above 80 kmph its pulls sweetly till 140 kmph. This means fewer gear shifts and less stress for the driver.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Hello People !

Just received a letter from Mr.Joginder Singh himself informing me that my Ecosport would be delivered in February 2014 !!!!! This while I have already got my car in November 2013. Hahahahahaha..

More importantly, it mentions a price hike in January 2014 ! So all those waiting for deliveries... take notice.

The Scanned copy of letter is given below.

I see a lot of potential customers moving away from Ford now.
Ford also don't have a strong portfolio to allow customers to chos an alternative.
They are going to lose their credibility big time.
There was a point when there was a lottery done for XUV500 and now???

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

So, I guess the price hike is more or less official now. The inputs suggest that its going to be a bigger hike than the previous one.

Definitely not a VFM anymore!

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

I cancelled my Ecosport booking and bought the new Terrano. This car is great to drive and has far more space and loving every minute with it.

If you can afford 13L please go for it.

Do we have more information about the accident.
I really don't know a lot about this incident. Saw the car at the local ford dealer garage. The manager did say that the occupants were safe.

Wow! I didn't know that Ecosport was only for those who couldn't afford 13 lacs and consequently, the Terrano; since that can be taken to be the converse implication of your statement!

While the Duster and Terrano are great cars in their own right, and have their own few advantages over the Ecosport, the Ecosport in my humble opinion, is a far more compelling and refined package at a lac or two less.

So now what should we do with the couple of lacs that are left unspent?

Guys, so it seems I have two options :
1. Buy a 1.5L Petrol MT Titanium (Black) at 9.5L
2. Buy a 1.5L Diesel MT Titanium (White or Silver) at 10.6L
(Sadly, I am not getting the Model (Tit+), the engine (Ecoboost 1L P) nor the color (mars red))
My run is not more than 25Km a day within Hyderabad. I am not sure buying 1.5L Diesel makes sense but I have heard that the 1.5L Petrol engine is not a good idea and generally the preference is "Ecoboost>Diesel>Petrol" - what is the general opinion about this ? I did not find any Ownership review on team-bhp about 1.5L Petrol MT. Any information would help me decide or quit this deal entirely.

This isn't a 'critical take'; it's a biased rant!

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

I pre-booked a new Honda City CVT last week while retaining my EcoSport ecoboost Titanium (o). The Ecosport is taking a long time to come. Another price revision means I will cancel my booking and go for the City CVT.
