I think Tata used to sell Indica alone 10000K+ units per month in the past, so it is nothing new for them.

It is nice to see the Indian giant finally waking up. I spent more than 2 hours checking Tiago Petrol XZ variant, and I was impressed by their work. More reason to wait for Tata Nexon.

I just noticed that Nano invoice mentions car colour as Bangria Red whereas it is supposed to Sangria Red . Please make sure that the mistake is not repeated on the RC Card as well!

Yes, you're absolutely correct. The Indica did manage those numbers in its early years. However, after that initial surge, the company hasn't seen those kind of numbers and nor will in the coming months irrespective of what it does with the Tiago or Nano or any other car. Tata has got a real uphill task. Anyways my intent wasn't to start a debate, but even if the company settles in on a consistent 5k / pm number they will be really happy so...in that respect 10K / pm is a huge achievement for them.

Remember this concept (Tata Motors @ Auto Expo 2016)?

If a report from OnCars is to be believed, the Tiago "Aktiv Cross" could soon become a reality, as Tata continues it's efforts to get a firmer foothold in the Indian auto scene.

According to them, the Head of Design at Tata Motors, Mr Pratap Bose, has shared a few sketches of the modified Tiago pseudo-crossover with the media at Tata's Pune design studios. Tentatively named as the "Kite 4", it looks like this:

Tata had showcased the crossover-ish version of the Zica hatch (Tiago) at the 2016 Auto Expo. The vehicle was named as Zica Aktiv Cross, which comes equipped with some accessories like matte cladding on the front and rear bumpers with bash plates underneath, matte grille and the bright aluminum finished strip on the bumper, etc. Adding to it, the vehicle also gets contrasting roof rails, a sporty vinyl with new alloys and a matte black rocker mould.

The Tiago with crossover-ish profile features Kite 4 badge, indicating that company could launch Tiago cross in near future.

Please give a better petrol engine!

Even after multiple test drives of Tiago, I cannot overlook this weak link. The entire car is so well put together it deserves a better, silent petrol. Charge more by all means, but do give people an option to opt for a better engine!

Tiago is one reason I am not even stepping into the Maruti dealership. I know I will be horribly disappointed by the Celerio/Wagon-R/Swift.

Let's see how long I can put off the purchase.

5K a month for at least 7-8 months from Tiago is needed. That will show better road presence and later mouth publicity can bring in new people to showrooms.
It is such a VFM product which deserves better sales volume.
Hope Tata clears delivery backlog and hoping to see few initial ownership reviews soon on T-BHP

I saw a Tiago at an accessory shop yesterday. The quality of the interiors and overall fit and finish were really good, especially for the segment. Good job TATA !

How is the seating in the Tiago? Tall boyish like the Wagon-R? Ingres and egress is what is playing on my mind between this & Wagon-R for my parents aged over 70.

In all parameters, it is a better car. Not bringing in the manufacturer or service aspect.

Tata's reply should be "Hyundai & Suzuki India: You will never feel the satisfaction of designing & developing a car, as you people are only 'launching' it"

Tiago crosses 23,000 bookings in eight weeks says Pratap Bose, head of design, Tata Motors. Great going TML. An article from Financial Express states that Tata Motors is now focusing on design. This is what they had to say, "The design team at Tata Motors Limited is doing everything to wipe out old memories and perception about the Tata car and set new reference points."

Absolutely right. Their new design language is IMPACT. Tiago is the first car by the company that has been developed under the IMPACT design language. The new design language is a harbinger of the next generation passenger vehicle to roll out of the Tata assembly line.

According to Tata motor, the exteriors of the cars under the IMPACT design language can be defined into three features which consists of - EXciting, EXpressive and EXtraordinary. For the interiors the language has been defined as- INviting, INtelligent and INtouch. Three design teams work together to design a car. When designing a new product, the focus of the team involves the cohesion of creative work, design quality and the production simplicity of the project. In the initial stage, the market position and the target audience of the vehicle are decided. In the next stage, the team works on the sketches and with progression finalise different factors like the size, powertrain range and so on. After this, the design is given a three-dimensional profile digitally as well as physically in the form of clay and foam structure. This is where the management selects the final design to go ahead with.

See the clay model of Tiago is being prepared.

Isn't the Aktiv Body Kit already part of the accessory list, priced at Rs. 35,000? Will it be launched as a separate model officially?

This is definitely not a car in which you sit into it. The seating is reasonably tall and should not be a problem for the elderly. Wagon R is properly tall and also flat (with minimal contours for the seat), Tiago has better contours though.

I see a Sunroof for 18500/- but am still not sure of the competence of the A$$ to pull this off with a cent percent accuracy. Or does TATA send someone from the factory to do this or an OEM like Webasto does it on TATA's behalf?

Yes it is exactly same. Tiago Aktiv is currently available at the dealer level from Tata’s personalisation studio for around INR 30,000, the factory-made version could be a bit pricier. Expected to be priced 50,000 higher. There will be no change in the interior or engine. It could be launched during this year’s festive season (September to November). Tata would be initially building the Aktiv on order or in limited numbers to check the response. If it receives strong enough response, full-fledged production would commence at a later stage.
