1. Yes this is AX7L 4Wd AT
2. Bumper has been slightly shaved about 1.5inches from inside to accommodate the tyres. Some alloy wheels scrape the front calipers, and that is why spacers are required. There are some options available with Beast alloys that do not scrape with the brake caliper.
3. Yes, TPMS works as is.
4. Very marginal vibrations.
5. Too early to comment on the impact on the suspension, it shall not affect in any manner, as off-roaders around the globe use spacers for offroading and expeditions without any issues.
6. Yes, I changed all 5 alloys and tyres. The camera setup is as is, no need for any relocation or modification.

Asked the service head when I went to collect my vehicle post service, wrt request sensor- he mentioned it might require different wiring controls, and reprogramming. May not be exactly plug and play, though I really wish existing vehicles can be retrofitted. (Not having the request sensor is a big miss)

This video sums up the changes coming from March 8th vehicles. But couldn’t find any reference of 400NM torque figures. If it is true that is a great deal.
Yes, it pretty much adds most of the essentials I found lacking in my test drive months ago - except the missing memory buttons. God, I hate power seats without memory function I just hope the CAN messages are the same as the XUV’s, and that it’ll one day show up in their Adrenox Connect app, if it hasn’t already.

I would doubt that. Both Scorpion N and XUV700 have keyless entries only in specific models. The adjustable passenger arm rest also makes more sense with electric parking brakes, but I hope they give it for all (it's adjustable!).

My dealer has no clue, and the online brochure is unchanged too. I hope these changes are NOT custom made for John Abraham. That would be such a bummer.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

So, as some of you may know, I have had to sell my older ride. While on the market for a new ride, I was specficially looking for 6 airbags + ADAS L2 as a requirement. With ADAS L2 added only a very small set of vehicles met our criteria and it was easy to short list the ROXX. Getting our hands on one proved to be very hard, but calling multiple dealers helped. With that out of the way, I would like to let this community know, I have been a ROXX owner since Dec 13th, 2024, Here are my notes on the ROXX.

Pros

Driving Experience
1. Tuned for drivability.
2. High tall commanding position, can see over most cars and easy to choose lanes.
3. Potholes are no longer bothersome. Big tires with high profiles make it very easy to dismiss the gutters.
4. Now, after 3000 kms, the engine has opened up a lot more.
5. Now, I do not worry about AEBS to kick in, I just drive my style and it does kick in once in a while, but nothing where it slams on the brakes. To be honest, I felt the AEBS on the Roxx to be very gentle and giving you multiple warnings.

Convenience & Comfort
6. Tire pressure at 32 is good, even if it is a little higher, it starts bouncing. I got it back from the service center at 33, and the bounce was evident on the interlock tiled pavemement.

Cons

Infotainment & Tech Issues
7. Temperature value is not shown when screen has Android Auto in full-screen mode. But when HVAC is not in auto mode, temp can be seen.
8. Android Auto navigation in instrument cluster stays in night mode even in day, so wierd to see night option in instrument cluster and then day option in the main display at the same time.
9. I was not able to find the version of the software running on the infotainment. When I checked at the service center, the service head calmly said, you have to go to the settings, there is an option to see the version info in the settings. I checked, there is no such option.
10. Adrenox is laggy to use for vehicle controls. You see the status, then move to a screen to change settings, and it fails 50% of the time. Even when it shows failure, sometimes the command gets executed. When it works, it is brilliant, but the whole control thing is a hit or miss.
11. Trip meter not seen in the main display, I mean, I use it a lot and Trip A is always fuel rest and not seeing that for me is wierd and I have to toggle around in the menu to find that.

Driving & Handling Issues
12. Manual mode useless as it does not upshift until a certain speed.
13. Big blind spot in left side mirror in the city; short scooty riders are completely obscured.
14. LKA is temperamental; it depends on the width of the observable lane markings. If they are too thin, it is constantly correcting itself, whereas wider lane markers result in less correction.
15. The steering is super light, possibly to help with the LKA motor.
16. Though LKA correction tug on the steering is weird for the first hour or so, soon you will get used to it. I am concerned about potential damage, as I find myself often correcting the lane keep assist.
17. NO discernable difference between Zip and Zoom, i honestly cant feel a difference other than the change in graphics in the instrument cluster.

Feature Limitations & Annoyances
18. Auto wiper washer does not work when wiper is in auto mode.
19. HVAC auto mode won't go below fan speed 3, even when set temp and ambient temp are the same. Fan Speed 3 is loud, while 1 is quiet and comfortable. I think this is a bug.
20. No cigarette lighter socket in front.
21. Headlights are pathetic, and no info about bulbs in the manual, should we just replace the entire unit if the bulbs are gone?
22. Auto-down windows in Maruti have a 2-step tactile action, but here it is always auto-down. So, if you need to stop the window halfway, you have to push and then pull at the required point.
23. Sunroof (AX5/L) cannot be controlled using Adrenox, only Skyroof (AX7/L). I was under the impression that since Skyroof gets the functionality, it would be applicable for AX5s, but that does not seem to be the case.
24. When you long press the unlock button, the driver window and sunroof will open. This happens a lot when carrying stuff or when the button is pressed accidentally in the pocket. When you lock it again, the car locks, but the windows remain open.
25. I cannot make the alarm to chirp, even after following directions in the manual, my car wont make a sound when locking/unlocking.
26. You cannot use something to protect the keys, as you need to use the buttons on the keyfob to get in. There is no door sensor! In the S-Cross/XUV700, you can use the door sensor. In that sense, we do not have the advantages of true keyless entry. I Scross, I used to carry the key in my bag and forget about it, there are times when I do not see the key for months together. Here, you have to have the key outside to press the buttons on the remote to get in. So, Now, I have the key tied up on the outside of the bag with a key ring.
27. Navigating the instrument cluster with up/down keys on sterring wheel is non-intuitive, as I always go in the opposite direction to what I want.
28. Favorite button <star> on the keyboard takes you to whatever location you want, but pressing it again does not toggle you back to the previous location. I wish it did toggle so that when in navigation, I could press the star to go to settings (when mapped to settings) and press again to return to navigation.

Neutral Observations

Tech Alerts
29. First time overwhelmed with dings and beeps, selectively turn off things not required.
30. TSR, HBA, LKA notification sounds turned off on mine. Note - only sounds, rest of the warning remains on.

Rear three quarter look is really good. I have turned off the DRL because of the constant attention grabing from passerby. As ROXX becomes more common, I would be turning this back on.

Thank you. Apart from the looks, there is no value add according to me. I have only driven with the bug deflector. I have not driven a ROXX without one. Even the test drive vehicle had one. So, from a noise perspective, I cannot judge. There is no evident noise till around 110, from 120 onwards, there is howling noise. I am not able to figure out, if it is due to tires or if it is due to the bug deflector or the inherent shape of the vehicle.

End of a long night drive, there are numerous dried up bugs on the windscreen. So much for it deflecting bugs.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hello All,

This is my first post on this forum. Also, Thar Roxx is my first car and thanks to this forum, I was able to make this decision.

I recently completed Bangalore to Pune drive with my wife and 2 year kid. The comfort and easy with which were able to complete the journey within 13 hours is next level. No words can describe my happiness each time when I sit in the car.

All being said, I am looking for suggestion regarding which service center should I go for in Pune for 1st service. I am seeing all mixed reviews for all the Mahindra authorized service centers, and it is really confusing.

TIA

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Today, I received a call from SA that my car has been allotted and will arrive at their stockyard by Sunday, and I need to start the loan process. When I asked him if I could do the PDI before starting the process, he mentioned that their stockyard is in Panvel. He can retrieve the car from their nearest stockyard once the 50% payment or the loan process is completed. I told him that at least he could provide some photos and inform me about how many kilometers the car had been driven; he said needed to check when the car arrived at the Panvel stockyard. I hope there is no issue with the car as I am getting early delivery, my delivery date was 8 April to 8 May 2025.

I wouldn’t take a chance and do a PDI even if it meant travelling to a stockyard far away.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

1st service done:

Carplay activation and software update are now standard part of the update. The software update has also fixed the EQ sliders resetting to default/flat on restart.

I also got the sw update done today. CarPlay working like a charm. Mine being MX3, only wired CarPlay by Mahindra.

(1) Works when connected to USB port and not to type-C port. Looks like data transfer is disabled on type-C port.
Are others also observing this ?

(2) Any recommendation from fellow members for wireless CarPlay dongle ?

Wireless charging is now usable, earlier it was heating the phone to the extent that multiple apps used to open and close by themselves and phone used to become unusable for a few minutes, after being taken off the charging pad. Now, it is fine.
