I am going on a trip.
It will have city, highway and hills. Lets see at what number it settles.
My guess is 12-14 max.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Now that you are in possession of the vehicle and have the correct tire pressures maintained, please keep us filled-in with your driving impressions, ride quality as you clock the time / mileage with it. There is only so much that one can deduce from short test drives. Thanks in advance.

No!, that's not what impulsive meant. It just means the choice is impulsive not the money or the purchase of a vehicle. And as you said, no car is perfect, so there is significant impulse involved in making a choice. Money is as hard-earned for almost everyone, but buying cars is almost never a good use of it !, once you've crossed that hurdle being an enthusiast who gets excited by cars, you park/ plan your money to buy cars. The excitement to buy a new launch is probably worth the minor niggles that one may face over the next few months/ years.

To be very honest I am coming from sedans and hatchback and this is my first SUV.

My friend has a Fortuner and surely this feels more in control over bumps and the rear passengers are more comfortable ( light interior also pays a huge role)

But on familiar sections of road which I used to glide at 80 in my Vento I did feel the need to slow down the ROXX to 40-50 as the lateral and vertical movements get you but I guess this a BOF characteristic.

Steering is on par with (maybe better) than the sedans and hatchbacks.

Petrol engine is barely audible and is super refined.

Gearbox is very crisp and slots in satisfyingly.

My parents did not complain about the ride quality in the passenger or the rear seat but yes if an aged person who is not physically active will find it a chore to board and deboard the car. Will share more once I clock in the kms.

Cheers

Makes sense. All the best with your purchase! I'm also looking keenly at the Thar Armada (I flat out refuse to call it the Roxx ) in about a year's time. This is probably the only ICE vehicle I'm interested in, with the rest of my options being EVs (both current and upcoming).

Wish you a great trip. All that have 'boldly' booked the Petrol which includes me (MX3 P AT) will be super happy if you realistically achieve 12-14 kmpl

Yes,

On a side note, the full tank auto cut during the fuel-up clicked at 50 Liters. It's mentioned at 57 liters everywhere.

Is it the reserve fuel of 7 liters?

I can't seem to figure this out.

Based on a few conversations with XUV700 and Thar owners, along with multiple reviews here, I decided to book the D AT instead of the P AT. However, my first preference still remains the MX3 P AT. After seeing these numbers, I’m once again considering booking it. I’ll be eagerly waiting for the fuel economy numbers, CARBun. Have a good trip and hopefully FE

Thanks Man

However just to clarify mine is a petrol manual and even my first choice was to go with the AT but from the 3D reviews the P AT had the mileage 2-3 clicks lower than the manual hence I went ahead with this.

I would have definitely gone with the diesel if I hadn’t been residing in NCR :/

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Long walk around and short test drive done of the AX7 D AT 4x4.

Initial impressions impressive. Real butch looks from all angles and solid road presence. Ricks and Innovas skittered out of the way immediately.

Excellent sound insulation and a solid feel inside. Rear seat space is at a premium I felt when adjusted to my 5’9” driving position. Boss mode makes for a lot of space though. Dual pane sunroof makes a big difference I felt and should be lovely to keep the shade at least open in winters and rains.

Ingress / egress takes getting used to but well placed grab handles are there. Rear door gap too small I felt. Somehow they should have fixed that but I guess the wheel arches are a show stopper.

Ride was good though side to side head shakes were certainly much more prominent than the XL6 on the exact same route. But the ride felt like a tank and super heavy.

Steering very light and effortless to drive in city on my very short route. Good acceleration generally I felt. Brakes good too. Auto hold activation and deactivation was a little clunky and abrupt.

They are offering early morning and late evening home TDs only. Will take them up this week sometimes.

Was surprised to see empty showroom at 1130 on a weekday. Thought there would be more interest!

Net net, interesting vehicle with KA OTR of ~28.5 if you cut out the fat.

The last 2 pictures in Mocha Brown are from the adjacent Scorpio N. The SA thought the interiors will be very similar.

EDIT: The pictures are of the on-display AX5 while the test drive was with a AX7 D AT.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hi, has anyone got a delivery of Roxx in Bangalore? I am told that even for people who have got allotment, the RTO process is still not recognising the model and hence no registration till date in Bangalore. thanks

Yes, that’s what I was told by my SA too, but I was informed by him a few minutes ago that RTO has started the registration.
