This video should help answer your question

Also it would require mounting bracket change or tweak.

Alloy Wheel part no. And cost (from video itself)

If you compare this to the accessory List whivh I uploaded earlier you will find there is a 2x markup in accessory pricing.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Thanks. Looks a bit complicated. The metallic mounting bracket which holds the spare wheel seems to be common across variants. Its the cylindrical camera housing that is much longer in the lower variants than the top ones. There should be an easy solution. Given most people would get rid off the ugly looking spare wheel cover in lower variants, I am sure someone will come up with a YouTube video showing how it is to be done.

This was not mentioned there few days ago when I checked.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I went ahead and cancelled my booking today of Thar Roxx D AT 4X4 stealth black. I had booked on 3rd oct at 11:01 am and would have been allocated a vehicle by oct end, going by the trend. I did take a longish test drive and while it has improved leaps and bounds over its earlier sibling, I was not comfortable with its front seats. I usually do long drives of ~900 kms of mix road conditions and the use case became a deal breaker for me. Ride quality though improved is still average. I had previously owned 2 door P AT 4X4 hence could relate the positives and negatives w.r.t Roxx. Back seat comfort is something that can be lived with. Family was not convinced about the way back seats have to be accessed. I did speak to few prospects who booked with family quotient in mind and it seems that’s where many of them feel disappointed. I expect quite a few cancellations and my hunch is that it may not be a runaway success like Thar 2 door especially when most of us would have learnt our lessons from it.

Yes, very eagerly awaited indeed given the recent pull backs from a few based on their driving impressions.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I just came back from the PDI. As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by a soiled driver’s seat. For a car that was in the stockyard for only a couple of days, I’m finding it hard to digest the state of the interiors. Here are some observations that have taken away all the excitement I had after receiving the call from the SA:

1. All four door pads have visible fingerprints. The plastic wraps were removed, with the explanation that they are taken off for thorough PDI at the stockyard.
2. The area around the sunroof and the roofline near the rear door also has fingerprints. I was told this is because the rear door is used to access the vehicle during unloading from the container.
3. The area above the seat belts on both front seats is soiled. The only explanation given was that the staff handling the car at the stockyard must have had dirt on their hands.
4. The plastic seat covers have already been removed, suggesting that the driver’s comfort is prioritized over the customer experience. The sides of the driver’s seat already look similar to what I observed on the test drive vehicle.

Although the dealership is ready to perform a deep cleaning before delivery, and my SA patiently stayed with us for almost an hour-long PDI, I’m having second thoughts about this interior color

What's your feeling, was the car actually unused, or was already subjected to some youtube videos?

Cleaning shouldn't be an issue, but just check for how long was the car with the dealership? at this stage each day would mean a new content creator would approach the dealership for a car for their stunts/ shoots (even if within the stockyard) for possibly a handsome amount of money!

A car lying at dealer stockyard should not be that dirty. The dealership do not remove plastic from seat covers as are well aware that removing plastic covering will lead to stains on seats. The display Thar Roxx I have seen in showrooms did not have plastic cover on the seats. The dealerships covered seats with thin white cloth to prevent seat stains as everyone started pointing at seat stains after first couple of days.

What is the current odometer reading?
What is the serial number printed above the glove box on left hand inside?

The dirty interior could be due to one of following
- Used by some reviewer
- The cars typically are moved back and forth at the stockyards to make room or take out a car, so it is possible that someone with dirty hands moved the car and then tried to clean the seat resulting in spreading the stain even more.
- The car was used as display car for some time and hence plastic cover on seats is absent and seats are dirty

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

What are the accessories you folks are planning to avail for the ROXX during delivery? I want to keep it at bare minimum due to the insane markup on the official ones, so I'm curious to know what my fellow BHPians are thinking.

The ODO is showing a 60 KM reading, which is another red flag. Since the stockyard is roughly 4 KM from the showroom, this seems slightly on the higher side. It’s a September-made vehicle, and various QA checks and stickers indicate the date as 26th September. My guess is that the vehicle has been at the dealership for about a week. They likely have a bulk delivery event planned around Diwali, so no deliveries are currently happening, and the cars are sitting in the stockyard.

Apart from the car's current condition (which will likely be resolved with a thorough cleaning), my main concern is long-term maintenance. I’m wondering if it might be better to wait a few months—perhaps Mahindra will start offering Mocha interiors in the 2W models, which are much easier to maintain.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I finally got to test drive the 4WD AX7L auto version in Mumbai, and came away mighty impressed. Dealership said they had only the 2WD versions for Test Drives, so it took a few calls to get hold of the 4WD version.

From the offset itself, the benchmark is the 3 door gen 2 Thar that I've driven before. This is a huge leap. Except for the white interiors, I really couldn't find fault with anything during the almost two hour test drive we took.

Route taken included the kacha warehouse roads in Bombay Port Trust area as well as heavy traffic in and around the P D'mello road. We (wife and I) also tried out 4WD High briefly on some muddy patches in the truck yards there. Didn't get the chance to try out 4WD low or the diff lock. Couldn't go above 80 kph either due to peak traffic/bad roads, so no comments on these aspects.

Observations:
  1. Wife approved and certified, unlike the case of poor Jimny where she dismissed it after seeing it in real life -- even before the test drive started.
  2. Also the first test drive we took in the last decade where the better half wanted a photo with the car after the drive. I think no convincing is needed further.
  3. Car is huge. Awes local people, nakabandi cops, and security personnel, with people stopping by to ask questions and admire.
  4. Full on 'Moses' feeling of the seas parting in front of you, even those pesky mini carrier vans.
  5. The ride gets better with speed on rough roads.
  6. Tried out going over some of the really huge truck focused speed breakers on P. D'mello road. Thar 5D handles it easily on its stride.
  7. Steering is easy to manage in traffic, even though I felt it is a bit too over servoed (hope that's the right term). My wife is happy with it, so I'm not going to think further.
  8. Great brakes, even in muddy patches.
  9. Rear seat comfort is far superior in its class. Not Creta/Seltos/Grand Vitara level, but I'm not interested in buying those anyways.
  10. 360 camera is nice, especially the front one which lets you see obstacles. The side ones are handy to see pesky bikers cutting in suddenly in traffic.
  11. Repeating everyone's grouse, those white interiors are not for India.
  12. Only AX7L variant has folding mirrors. What the heck, Mahindra? We are in 2024, right?
I'm working towards booking one once I get to check the AX5L variant as well. The 4WD automatic in Mocha interior variant.
