Re: Kia Syros Review

I think the Syros HTK (base) variant is the most VFM. For about 9 lakhs, you basically get everything with the turbo petrol even both the infotainment system and digital cluster is there.

Re: Kia Syros Review

Compared to this i20 NLine feels like a better value. I guess it’s equally spacious too. I know the target customers are different, but for a first time buyer NLine makes more sense.

And if someone is open for EV options too, wouldn’t MG Windsor makes more sense - it’s more practical and subjectively better looking too.

However the benefit of Syros is the Diesel engine.

Re: Kia Syros Review

In 5.5 years, Kia has been able to jump 1 whole segment. The top end HTX+ ADAS goes upto 17.8 lakhs ex-showroom!

Following were the prices of the Kia Seltos when it was launched in mid 2019

Quote:
Petrol

1.5L HTE - Rs. 9.69 lakh

1.5L HTK - Rs. 9.99 lakh

1.5L HTK Plus - Rs. 11.19 lakh

1.5L HTX - Rs. 12.79 lakh

1.5L HTX AT - Rs. 13.79 lakh

1.4 GTK - Rs. 13.49 lakh

1.4 GTX - Rs. 14.99 lak

1.4 GTX AT - Rs. 15.99 lakh

1.4 GTX Plus - Rs. 15.99 lakh

Diesel

1.5L HTE - Rs. 9.99 lakh

1.5L HTK - Rs. 11.19 lakh

1.5L HTK Plus - Rs. 12.19 lakh

1.5 HTK Plus AT - Rs. 13.19 lakh

1.5L HTX - Rs. 13.79 lakh

1.5L HTX Plus - Rs. 14.99 lakh

1.5L HTX Plus AT- Rs. 15.99 lakh
And, the GTX+ automatic variants were later released for 16.99 lakhs each, for petrol and diesel.

Re: Kia Syros Review

The top end Diesel automatic onroad pricing will be scary expensive IMO. Now I know how Kia will differentiate this and the Sonet, despite both of them belonging to the same segment.

People will still buy these nevertheless. The feature set is that delicious.

The diesel base variant is surprisingly 2 lakhs dearer than the petrol counterpart. I think Kia has missed a trick by not offering the diesel variant at a lower price point(HTK). The top-of-the-line variants are expensive, which I think was quite expected, given that the car is highly feature-packed.

I had the opportunity to check out the car in person yesterday. I'm neutral on the looks and contrary to my preconceived notion, the car doesn’t appear as big on the roads. The interior is definitely the talking point and truly a class apart.

Top variant on-road pricing in my city is a joke

I feel only the base and mid variants are worth to buy!

Re: Kia Syros Review

The top variants are overpriced by a good 2 lacs in my opinion, lower variants are the ones that are VFM.

This entire idea of waiting for a month to release the price based on the hype and the perception being created in market and forums is a bad precedent that has cropped up in the post-Covid period.

Kia was losing the market share owing to falling sales of Seltos/ Sonet, and Syros was a great opportunity for Kia to get back into the game. By being greedy with the pricing, Syros will perhaps lose out on a lot of bookings. Also, the Indian market is very unforgiving, in the sense that if the initial sales does not take-off, it is difficult to recover and become the market leader (similar to what happened to the likes of Honda Jazz etc.).

Infact, I was looking to replace my i20 1.0 DCT (as a family car) with the Syros Diesel AT (only available in the top 2 variants) owing to high running (~20k kms per year). However, after the price release, the idea was dropped straight away because of the pricing.

Re: Kia Syros Review

HTX+(O) D AT comes to ~18L ex-showroom translating to around 22.5L OTR in Chennai.

Changed my booking from HTX+(O) D AT to HTX+ D AT. I feel that ADAS is not worth the 1L premium it is asking for. Will be missing out on the 360 cam and 2 side parking sensors on the front and rear but gain a factory fitted dashcam.

Can't go lower than this variant as my running warrants a diesel and rear ventilated seats are a must as per home ministry

Will have to check if 360 cam and the 2 side parking sensors can be fitted as accessories since the optional variant does come with it.

Re: Kia Syros Review

The base and mid variants have got correct prices. TBH, the pricing of the HTE variant seems spot-on too me.

The top variants seem overpriced, sure, but not by a huge margin. In fact, compare it with the Sonet's top variant at 15.70 Rs ex-showroom, and it doesn't seem that overpriced, considering the feature set. Overpriced by perhaps 20k or 30k.

I guess it will settle at around 5000-6000 units.

Re: Kia Syros Review

My god! This is one EXPENSIVE sub four meter car! Wonder how many would buy the top trim. I'm sure Kia will lose quite a few initial bookings and market's interest given that it was never the most handsome looking car and now the atrocious prices to top it up. Just features can't win you the race, you need to price your product sensibly too.

Oh Kia India! What on earth are you really smoking?

Re: Kia Syros Review

I really think Kia would have done well to have the 1.2L CVT on lower variants as the Syros' USPs seem like a very good fit for the performance non-enthusiasts or chauffeur-driven anyway.

Spending extra for the adjustable seats only makes sense to me if there is a significant difference between the rearmost position and the fixed position in lower variants. Even then, I see little point in anything above the HTK+. For that much money I would probably no longer be able compromise on the looks.

I think it will be very interesting to see how the market responds as the price seems to really be testing the limits of the "magic touch" Kia has had so far. Considering all the platform-shaming going on I think Kia had better get that NCAP rating ASAP, and I don't think anything less than five stars would work seeing that the price is at the very top of its segment.

Re: Kia Syros Review

I was expecting the HTX DCT 1.0 Turbo to be around 14.79 mark, and the actual pricing is near about that.

I believe, specially for NCR folks, the HTX DCT 1.0 is the variant to go for provided are willing to that much for a sub-4m vehicle.

The feature to price ratio is quite good. However what I would have liked Kia to have a variant with the 1.5 NA petrol in the lineup, even if slightly detuned from the one in Seltos. The 1.5 NA would offer better city and slow speed drivability and perhaps better FE figures as well.

I too need to change to lower variant. Had initially book HTX
variant (since my leasing limit is 15L, though am okay to pay the extra from my pocket- not sure how leasing will work out in that scenario), now thinking whether to go for HTK plus petrol Manual or i20 Top variant. Personally I liked the smart key with Push button, Leather seats with ventilation and LED headlamps. So now little confused. Good Safety ratings results may favour Syros.

Praying for a early launch of Venue facelift soon.
