A few Pictures.

Here are a few pictures of a few things that will go onto the car.

From all the badges seen, The one in the center, the untouched one was bought by dad for 20 bucks a few years ago.

In the photograph of the badge that i am holding, i just painted that at home today. In the pic with all the badges, it was the one on the right hand side (below) of that original untouched badge.

Also seen in one of the pictures is a U.S. NABY plate which dad bought from the United States last year or so. It is going to go on the back of the car.

I guess its too late now, but some flared wheel arches would have looked really hot.
I dont know if you have seen the yellow padmini parked at international tyres @ opera house, but thats a great example.

Can someone post a pic of sumit's car if they have it?

You are planning to scare a cop in India with a US Navy plate? I don't think it would serve a purpose but be assured I will post a picture of it in the weird and wacky mod jobs thread, just kidding. Please take Rehaan's suggestion and do not put the plate.

Hi Anirban - Round side indicators look much better to us (I have 2 on 3112 and I have 2 at home which will go on the LHD) but in the company, you know the type of -------- let's leave it at that. I was 18 years old in 1975. I am today 24 years old. I never want to cross 30.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar
Dear Behram,

Of late my padmini has developed a strange surging/hunting problem when it is between say 35-50 km road speed in top gear.
This occurs in a corresponding engine speed in third gear as well.

The surging disappears after it crosses 50 km and does not reappear at any speed after that. I just came back from a trip to Mysore (sustained speeds over 100 kmph). and the car had faultless running except for this problem
The engine does not have any starting issues and fires in half a crank. It is quite powerful and does not have any sluggishness and has excellent response while climbing hills. The carburettor has been recently cleaned, tappets adjusted and new filter/castrol gtx engine oil replaced.

It feels as though vacuum collapse is occuring at this speed because if I modulate the throttle a bit, the surging reduces.

The engine has done 93000 km from new and has never been overhauled.

Any thoughts on this?

Does this happen all the time? Or only when the engine is relatively cold?
Were your plugs cleaned? What Jet size do you use? What year model is your car? Does it have vacuum advance mechanism?

Where does the temperature meter hover/stabilize after driving a couple of km's?

How much water does the car consume every morning?

Have you checked for water contamination in the engine oil?

Does the oil level remain constant over time?

If all this is fine. We only need to adjust the valve clearance, timing and then the fuel mappings.

One more thing, after a drive, please try and check how much does your brake drums heat up. Normally the fronts will be warmer (not hot) than the rear ones, but yet both wont be very hot. Just checking if your brakes are loading your engine.
