I'm told currently there is a case going on in court related to this but it will take god-knows-how-long until they reach a verdict!
Maybe that's why the car was sold to the scrappie?

Worst case, it does have a lot of original parts to donate for the benefit of people who are serious enough about having them! Atleast let those not go wasted!
Sir, the car has been registered in Ranchi long back and the road tax is paid up to year 2003. Car still bear Delhi no.(DLF) as here registration authorities are not very much concerned for getting local no. ie. JH series.Getting the registration renewed has no problem only fine with additional amount of tax has to be paid. There is little problem as the owner is no more and it will require additional legal work to get the ownership transferred. Well then, I guess your way is clear, fortunately! Get the doubt regarding the engine clarified and try negotiating, and if all works out, go pick 'er up! And even if it doesn't have an original engine (you can always find one still!) or even if cannot be negotiated, go pick 'er up anyway!
Good Luck!

Hi!

This is interesting! I didn't know that 1962 FIATS (Select or Super Select?) had this kind of petrol tank lid.

I distinctly remember that the many restored post-1960 FIATs that we see on this forum do not have this kind of lid.

Could someone please explain?

Thanks.

Re: Restored Fiats (Super Select & Others)

Saw this Premier Padmini today with BLO registration. Am surprised and confused to see this registration on a PP. My brother owned a 1957 Fiat 1100 (the dukkar) and it had a BLO registration.

I understand that there was a 'BL' series issued in Bombay, albeit for a short period, in the 80s. Some cars were even re-registered with this series. If this padmini is from the 80s, then it would be the original registration. Your '57 dukkar was obviously re-registered in the 80s when this series existed.

From my understanding somewhere in the 80s all older cars (must have been some age criteria) were being re-registered under 3 common series (for 3 RTOs). I think the series were BLI, BLO and MAX. This Padmini is probably an older Fiat with a later body, a common practice.

Re: Restored Fiats (Super Select & Others)

A nice spotting in Kolkata on 25/07/2016. The car has a few trims that are not original, most glaringly the badging, bumpers, front grille and number plate lights, but the 1968, 1100 D is quite loved and is maintained with all the TLC.

This car has already been featured but I couldn't resist posting more pictures of it. Seen outside Leopold Cafe at Colaba.
