I am going full speed to finish it, even if its at the absence of my mechanic

Usual off today, give the door pads and the rexine to the upholsterer, finish a bit of office work, come back home and now my work starts, getting the carb stand(Initial intake manifold) done.

Used 1.75 mm metal pipe to get this unit fabricated by my local fabricator. 4 hrs and 4 kms of walking up and down from home to shop(So that the measurements dont go wrong) by 7:00pm in the evening the manifold is ready.Hoorraaay....

One more satisfactory DIY

you wont know guys, Finished complete buildup of the engine with muffler and the accelerator cable.

my mechanic still out of town, i am egging myself to fit the engine myself and start it(That would be overconfidence) i better wait for couple of days more.

So guys, last bit of work left and their status

1) Door pads = 50% complete, monday fitting on the bus
2) Engine = 90% complete, wait for the mechanic to come and start
3) Brakes = Rear brakes done( myself), wait for mechanic to do the front
4) Winder glasses = Ready at the factory, get them installed

That ends the restoration saga. Hope all of these fall in place at the required time.

Hi Folks,

Monday seemed a bit promising, Nothing much at work post lunch i head back soon to my upholsterers place.

The doorpads were ready but only few parts

Anyways, get them home and start my DIY fitting,

Even the doorpads were DIY's of a different kind (Design It Yourself), used a bit of chrome inside to get some classic touch, and fitting the pads onto the metal took some time, used the pressing clips rather than the holding type clips.

Let the pics do the talking

As you say gowdre

By the way things are turning up, it looks like it would be me, myself and myself who needs to fit the engine and start it also

Since my mechanic is a newly wed guy, he's seldom in town these days.

One more day tomorrow, and i'll take things in my hand, let me see if i "MAKE IT OR BREAK IT"

Mechanic back in town and for all the last minute shopping, work started late night at 10:00pm.

He starts marking the firing order, setting the tappets.

One hour per cylinder, by 2:00 (am) he finishes first part of his job, it was too late or rather too early for the next day and we call it a day.

Next part of the job will be completed tonight, and hopefully we will be starting the bus today. yaaaay...

On the other part of the pending work, i get remaining doorpads and by noon fitting is complete, only 2 more panels at the aisle is pending.

some pics to do the usual talking

MODS: My request for title change is not effected yet

Maybe , maybe not buddy, sure, do drop in this weekend.

Things were exciting till late night again (2:00 am)

Things done yesterday

1) Transmisssion oil --- CHANGED
2) Engine oil --- CHANGED
3) Engine --- MOUNTED

1:45 am my mechanic cranks the engine for the first time after 8 yrs( the engine had been idle for almost 6 yrs with the previous owner and its been idle for further 2 yrs with me.

1:50 am we still continue cranking, with the wiring not still complete, we had trouble with grounding, but the STARTER (Main Culprit) did not respond to our pleas.

So guys, yet another day to wait for the Engine to FIRE.

Some pics.

Feels so nice to see the bus nearly ready, from what i saw last.

Wishing you Good luck again, for the final startup job and hope to see it soon. Now, do we need to take prior appointments before dropping in?
