You can get it at any helmet shop on JC road. When I asked around, a shopkeeper just yanked it out from another helmet and handed me the piece. Or you can buy online.

So, is it an insert or do you need to stick with glue? How does it fit? And is it one size fits all kind of solution?

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

^^ cant see how this would work unless the option is to velcro it. The snap on types usually found on better helmets (thought of velcro near my face does not make me happy) will not do, save for the odd chance the buttons and snaps align perfectly

With the summers approaching, not sure what the need for the chin curtain may be. Also, I have found that the chin curtain on my Bell RS 1 fogs up the shield miserably. Its all clear with that thing out

I use this for all plastic parts on my bike: S100 Special Surfaces Cleaner

It's available online in India with sellers who specialise in detailing products.

Should be around INR 1.5k on eBay. Google for better pricing.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

I'm using the SOL Metal Man (orange) as of now in XL Size. It was tough finding one in that size and literally had to scourge every reputed Helmet shop in Bangalore. Got a warranty of 1 year.

I've been using it for quite a while now, having used it in a lot of conditions. There is NO wind noise/buzzing at high speeds. But that's only if you wear it correctly and strap it on until you're comfortable. The ventilation system is amazing. Absolutely NO fogging of the visor or suffocation, even at slow speeds, with the visor down. It keeps a large part of your head cool.
I also happened to wear it during one of my midnight rides to the Airport where I was greeted with heavy rain that even forced some cars to pull over and wait. I chose to ride on, and I was surprised that not a single drop of water leaked inside, even through the vents. I'm not sure if it was the visor's construction, but the raindrops that lashed my visor always drifted to the sides, leaving the centre area of the visor clean and spotless for perfect vision.

The only demerit I've found are the cheek pads, that take a lot of time to settle and acclimatise to your jaws and cheeks. Breaking in the helmet is tough and it took me a lot of pain enduring kilometres to finally make it comfortable enough for me.

Yes, the chin curtain is an insert and salvaged from an LS-2 helmet. Fits into the helmet just like the cheek pads. Cuts out lot of wind noise and highly recommended if you're using a BT Intercom such as a Sena or Scala system.

Even after using this helmet for well over 30,000 kms, I still have pain in my left jaw Rest everything is just PERFECT, exactly the way you've described it. Either I have jaws of a shark, or the piece I got has a defective left strap. I've kinda learned to live with it, but on 20 hour rides it's a huge problem to deal with.

The other problem is finding visors and pads!

Well, I had jaw pain initially, during the time I was breaking in the helmet. However, as time passed, it became comfortable, and the only slight pain I have during long rides is on the tip of my head. I'm hoping that goes with time too. Wearing this helmet with a skull cap and an earpiece is a nightmare, it's that compact.

I agree with the visor and pads. Wanted a thinner cheek pad initially, wasn't able to find it.

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

This query is from my cousin who is going to get his first bike soon. He is from kerala and have an option of getting LS2, THH and may be TIH branded lids - his budget is maxxed out at 3k. Which one will be a better choice from these brands?

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

^^ how about the kyt provent helmet? Costs around 3k, ece rated n seems well built

Ls2 I would avoid given the no. of fakes in circulation. THH, just not sure of the brand and the authenticity of its DOT certification
