From Social media sources, Spartan Pro Gear (SPG) might start importing HJC helmets in India soon

Rejoice riders,

This is excellent news! I had heard that they were the new importers for India but I also knew that there was a delay in the supply of new helmets. I believe I had posted about this in February without mentioning them by name.

What a little birdie told me was that HJC was busy prioritizing supplies to the European market and hence they couldnt supply any new stock to the new Indian importer.

The Covid problem has impacted production for many riding gear manufacturers around the world. With less supply and growing demand, manufacturers have had to prioritize markets. That is the reason why we dont find good quality gloves in India right now.

I had planned to check this at my local store, I forgot to do so the last time I went there. Let me see if I can swing by this week and check.
Thanks. I am really looking forward towards any update on this liner removal bit. Perhaps you could try to take a video while you are at it ?

Also, what do you feel about the wind noise? I have worn it for two day now commuting to office. Up and down 60kms ride in total. Pretty high wind noise. I was suspecting those chin vents which has a plastic part bisecting the wind. Tried to close it with finger while riding and the noise was gone. Reached home , simply took it off. Pictures attached for reference.

I am a round head and measure 54 cms (xs). I measured my own head multiple times and also took a head shot of my head from the top to figure out what shape i fit into.
Hey i think PRS does procure from a European source. Which mostly caters to the intermediate oval form. However if you purchase from Japan or i think most Asian markets, the same Arai RX7V is labelled as RX7X. Which might have the Asian form factor may be.

With what i know the difference in the model name stems from Snell ratings. Which is a racing safety requirement.
RX7X same helmet, same build quality, but goes through a Japanese safety rating system.

Ordered one recently. And once i have it on my head, will post pictures here!!

Cheers!!

Aha. So my information stands vindicated.

How much is your rx7x costing you and what colour way is it? What bike is it for?

Waiting for that new lid to arrive...i can empathize lol

Very true. I checked out the Scorpion carbon and found its low weight, the best (of the lot). But it looks very bland. Needs some graphics. The AGV ticks most of the boxes for me, so the buy (and I'm happy with these). My dream helmet remains a Pista. The low weight, premium feel, ease of use and superb lining, feels best

Have been an Aldo Drudi fan and more so i really really liked Simoncelli. Sad that we lost such a good rider so soon.
Having lost out on an opportunity to get the AGV "Wish you were here" Pista, i could not say NO to the Tatsuki... Will wear this proudly on the Zuki!!

Hope i get this soon though.

With the Airoh Valor, you can apparently remove the central padding but not the cheek padding. Here is how you remove the central padding. Notice the two M shaped clips? One is near the thumb and not easily visible. The other one is towards the center. Just give it a slight push and it just fits right back in.

Matte finish is always tough to protect with wax, but I got this Dr Wack S100 Matt-Wax. It protects my NOLAN matte-helmet, while guarding it against UV and rain. I was zapped to see the re-finish. You can use it on any matte surface, including bike tanks etc

Shoei is traditionally for long or intermediate oval heads.

Ofcourse these are just general observations, some of our heads might fall between a round and oval and hence most such helmets will fit us. But, just see the small arai for you perfect but you had to do a medium in shoei. Thats because of the head shape.

AGV is also inter oval. Most of europe and american heads are long or inter oval heads.

.
Helmets are all individuval specific sir what may suit one may never suit another in my eternal quest for the perfect helmet, i have come to the conclusion finally that Arai is the best in my case atleast, hands down beats all the rest, had i known this i would not have wasted my monies on all the previous buys and simply would have gotten the arai

A few parting shots of my helmet tree and pics

Re: Which Helmet? Tips on buying a good helmet

Between the Axor & SMK models in the budget segment, which is better?

Or anything better upto a 6K INR budget? Preferably with an internal visor and as quiet as it can get in the budget

No idea about SMK but very happy with my Axor helmet. Tried quite a few brands but the Axor felt the most comfortable for my head. Came with internal sun visor too and has a more sturdy double D ring.

I think you are pretty much in MT helmets range. They seem to be the safest. I bought a Thunder SV (with sun visor) for around 5.5k from Spartan Pro Gear.

Good collection there. I had zeroed in on that same ARAI, same design. Seller was quoting Rs 80,000.
