Got this on whatsapp. Happened on Marine Drive in Mumbai and one of the three occupants sadly lost his life. Seems the driver lost control and hit the rear of the school bus parked on the side.

Unfortunate accident. The deceased is 18-year old Aryaman Nagpal, son of hotelier Rajesh Nagpal who has a stake in some Taj hotels.

As for the truck flashing it's lights, its evident that both the headlights and blinkers were on even before the impact, before it reached the curve.

Goods vehicles do have a tendency, if empty, to fish-tail like this.

Here it is completely the fault of the truck.

After accidents nobody says the vehicle "would have passed" safely.

Overtaking is not a crime.

Doing it in a way that is dangerous and could cause a potential hazard for an accident could be a crime. The video in discussion says by itself. It was a curve, the car driver does not have a clear view of what is coming from opp lane, plus wet roads. All these needs to be accounted when you do an overtake. Here both of them saw each other only at the last second and that made the truck to apply brake, which he would not have done otherwise.

More accidents as vehicles get back to the roads in larger numbes. This crash (?in GK1 in New Delhi) however happened on a more empty road and ended up with several cars damaged. The Mini Cooper was an unfortunate victim too. Don't know more details as yet.

Classic case of accelerator instead of brake? The car doesn't show any signs of slowing down and rolls into the Mini again after hitting it

Looks like the Swift has the most damage. Hope the car wasn't running away from police checking or something like that. Bad luck Cooper beauty.

It looks like he panicked and hit the accelerator just before or after the crash. Not sure if that caused the crash though.
The video does not show why he was turning it cornering at such a high speed. The pedestrian seems to anticipate the crash just before the car comes into view on this CCTV.

Let's hope that is the case.
But I get a fleeting feeling that our man was trying to do a 'Tokyo Drift here' His angle of approach in the turn, he was partly drifting and the speed at which he entered the turn too.
Let's hope everyone emerged safely out of this mishap.

The never ending misery of the migrant labourers continue. Early this morning at 3.00 am, two trucks collided in Auraiya dist (U.P.) ( about 200 kms west of Lucknow) killing 24 migrant labourers and injuring several of them. They were heading from Delhi and Rajasthan towards their homes in Jharkhand, U.P., Bihar and West Bengal in two trucks. It appears that a few had got down to have tea, while those sitting atop sacks loaded in the truck were jolted and thrown off after it was hit by the other truck (van according to another report).

We as car owners check out for four to five star safety ratings (NCAP/ VBSAP) while going out to buy our new cars, while the flip side of it shows such gory stories of labourers sitting atop sacks and travelling in the most unsafe ways, some with their families making them the most gullible in case of accidents.

Unfortunately, safety awareness is a very recent concept in India.
A very miniscule of the total vehicle(car/LMV) buyers in India consider safety ratings during their buying decision, however, a vast majority of the LMV buyers are oblivious of active and passive safety features.

This just extends to the rest of vehicle users with whole families perched on two wheelers precariously and to all the other road users (people on top of heavy vehicles etc). These will not change overnight, but should hopefully change for the better as awareness grows and safety requirements are mandated and enforced by law.

Thankfully awareness is growing fast and in recent times we have OEMs who are making vehicles with good safety ratings as safety aspect is a selling factor now. We will mature as a society as time progresses.

This is the aftermath of an accident in Hyderabad apparently. No confirmed details of the location or the date. There is a transient timestamp in the video stating it is 22 May.

The rear of the Maruti Swift is badly damaged.
There is also damage all around. Can't figure out if airbags deployed. The windscreen does not have shattering like the driver or passenger was thrown forward - could mean they wore seatbelts or that it was a bad rear ending.
Does anyone have any details. Couldn't find any news channels reporting this accident as yet.

This was an accident recently in Ambedkar Chowk in Pimpri Pune.
Apparently the traffic lights were not working.

It also appears that both vehicles may not have slowed down enough at the junction to safely look and then cross.

People indeed seem to have gone a little nuts on road in general, in these times. I have had some close saves myself in and around Dadar-Matunga-Mahim areas over the past few weeks. Every single time I've had to step out for a groceries run, I've come across people driving on the opposite side of the road, approaching at an intersection / crossroad quite fast, braking abruptly on interior lanes, etc. People walking on the road without a care. Cars parked haphazardly all around, esp on market roads.
