1. Banasura Sagar Dam
2. Lakkidi View Point
3. Pookode Lake
4. Karapuzha Dam
All mentioned places are open. Regarding the aftereffects of flooding, its not an issue in any of the places mentioned above from a tourist point of view.

However, do note that the places you mentioned are at three different corners of Wayanad with only Lakkidi view point and Pookode lake near to each other, so budget sufficient time for your commute.

One way to solve that problem. Stay close to Banasura dam at one those resorts with a good view. And visit the other two places in a day.

However still if one needs to enjoy boating/water sports at Banasura, I guess one day extra will need to be accounted.

Hi Folks, Traveling to Banasura side on Friday, planning to take the Kabini route. Hoping the roads will be commutable. Any info on the supposed orange alert issued?

Hi All,

Planning a trip on Nov 1st to Windflower Vythiri. Does anyone know the current road conditions? Going with family (kids and elders), so wanted to know if there are roads that are better to avoid.

Thanx

Just take the national highways route - nothing to worry about. Saw a local press report that toll collection will start on NH 766 sometime around now, though.

Toll on NH 766 - is that the one near Nanjangud on the Gundlupet stretch ? Remember seeing a toll plaza that wasn't operational.

There is that one between Mysore and Nanjangud, and another one between Gundlupet and KA-KL border. Apparently a third is between Mysore and T Narsipura.

Hey Akhil,

We took the HD Kota - Kabini route as our resort was just beside Banasura. And since it was pouring the 2 days we were there, we didn't travel much either. The roads were a breeze and not much trouble.

Took BLR - Mysore - Nanjangud - Gundlupete - Sultanbateri - Kalpetta highway throughout. Last stretch was some SH, rest were NH. Neat roads. No issues at all. There are some potholes in the last stretch. Otherwise it's stress-free completely.

It is the NH 766 (Kollegala-Mysore-Gundlupete-Kalpetta-Calicut) throughout - no state highways. That is how some national highways look like in Kerala.

The better ones - eg, the GQ sections - look like MG Road on a weekday evening.

There might have been road signs mentioning state highways, which could be because part of this route was Kerala SH (Calicut-Kalpetta-Gudalur) prior to elevation to NH status.

.
May be he meant the stretch from Kalpetta to Windflower resort via Kalpetta- Pozhuthana road.

Yes thats correct. This stretch was some SH and then last 3+km it was almost like no road. I could manage only because it was not a sedan (got a Tucson recently). I could not have done it with my Civic.

re: Bangalore - Wayanad: Route & Accommodation

We are travelling from Bangalore to Wayanad this weekend. We booked at Petals resort. What's the best route for this? I will be driving a self drive rental car and it needs a permit to enter Kerala. Where is the RTO in the route to take the permit?
