Did you go via Kopergaon? I think the best option is to go via Vaijapur.

The turning is before Kopargaon. But road conditions are pretty much the same. This is the route I am referring. Thats how I went.

OK. That clears the confusion. But I did not subject my vehicle to that torture!
I hired a local cab and went around. It was worth it for sure !

The best option would be :

Bellarr-Hospet-Bijapur-Solapur-Daund-Nagar-Shirdi.

Solapur-Daund-Nagar sector is NOT all that great. And so are the roads around Shirdi. (Quite pathetic infact). But I don't think you have any other option. Do make sure you complete the drive in day time. I wont recommend a night drive at all.

Services on the Nagar-Daund-Solapur sector may not be that good. Hence plan accordingly.

re: Bangalore to Shirdi : Route Queries

I am planning to go to shirdi in December.

Here is my plan. Need help in deciding on place to stay and dine.

Day 1: Start from blr at 5:30AM. Night halt at Pune (will reach by 7:00pm??)
Day 2: Start from Pune(7:00AM). Reach Shirdi (by 1pm?)

Day 3: visit temple, see the afternoon arti, visit Shinganapur and proceed to Aurangabad. Night halt at aurangabad.

day 4: See ajanta/elora caves and rest in aurangabad.
day 5: Start for bangalore. start at 8:00am. Halt someplace midway (where?).
day 6: reach bangalore by early evening.

The reason why I am not stretching too much is coz, my parents will join me at shirdi and will be with us starting day 2 evening.

I need suggestion on places to stay in Pune, aurangabad (clean and basic accommodation needed) and on route to take from aurangabad to bangalore and where to halt in the night on day 5.

Regards,

Not sure if you can do in a day. Do get other opinions on this.

Same road. Aurangabad-Nagar-Pune-Bangalore.
Break Options : Kolhapur/Belgaum.

re: Bangalore to Shirdi : Route Queries

Belgaum is a better option to take a break during the return journey. We stayed at Sankham residency and it was a good experience. During our last trip, we did not take a break in Pune and drove to shirdi all the way despite a 2 hour break in Kolhapur for visiting the Mahalakshmi temple.

,
Do shani shinganapur either on day 2 while going to shirdi from nagar or on day 5 while going to pune from aurangabad.
ellora and ajanta in a day is not possible. Ajanta itself will take full day. Plan accordingly.

Thanks guys. Based on your inputs, I changed the plan to add another day at aurangabad.

Now, I am planning to reserve MTDC hotels in Shirdi and Ajanta Caves. Would anyone know if these hotels are decent enough?

Also, where do we break for lunch in Kholapur?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks and Regards,

Just what you want on Shirdi. See this beautifully written piece by @DD

On breaking at Kolhapur for lunch: 30km beyond Kolhapur you have Sai International.

,
Shirdi has many good hotels.
I stayed at MTDC Shirdi once, its govt property and not fancy as other hotels but its location is best, rt behind the shrine temple, ample safe parking, good restaurant and temple gate is just 50 mtr away.

One question: I have seen too many people talk about Aarti passes. On the sai.org.in website, I can see option to book a darshan. Is it advisable to make advance reservations thru the website? Since I am going during the peak season and that too with my aged parents, would want the process to be as painless as possible.

Thanks,

Thanks,
If you can get a booking either for darshan or for Arthi no issues. I did book for darshan and still went in a queue during the peak of 15th Aug and that too on a Thursday. Still was able to finish in 2-3 hours. It is crowded no doubt, but I dont think its like Tirupathi.

re: Bangalore to Shirdi : Route Queries

I'm leaving to Shirdi from Bangalore at 6pm tonite. As I understand the there are two road options,
Bangalore --> Pune --> Nagar --> Shirdi and
Bangalore --> Satara --> Baramati --> Nagar --> Shirdi
As I understand the road from Satara to Pune is in a bad condition, so do I take the Baramati route? I plan to drive till Shirdi as I have another person in the car to drive along with me. I shall be travelling in SX4.
I plan to visit Shani Shignapur on the way back to Bangalore, how long might the darshan take if I visit around 7 in the morning?
