Hi Thanks for sharing. How are the shoulders of the Kuppanur road. Last time I took that road a few months back the shoulders were very steep in many areas of the widened road. Have they done them up? It made going off the road during overtaking very difficult. Otherwise it is a fantastic road. But I would avoid taking that road after late evening hours since it is totally desolate.

@arulpreem

Regarding yercaud kuppanur road. The shoulders or side berms are now filled up with concete without any steep edge. This is in about 65 to 70 p.c. of the road. Remaining road lengths are yet to be widened or they have steep shoulder. I found the very occasional truck or bus drivers are courtious to cars and give way whether we are going up or down. And like you said this road is not for night driving. For newbies; there are two ways from Yercaud to Kuppanur. I have taken the road to pagoda point and took a left turn on the good road marked kuppanur. Enroute in about 10 km you will come across a T junction which will baffle you. You should take the right turn. There is a board in Tamil reading Salem pointing to the right.

re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

Planning to drive up to Yearcaud tomorrow.
Road till Salem is in great condition, since I've done this stretch couple of months back.

How is the road condition from Salem to Yercaud? How is the ghat section? Any impact due to recent/current rains/cyclone?

Also, is this a good time to visit Yercaud in the middle of the ongoing low pressure/cyclone/rains ?

Regards
Rex

Yercaud Ghat section is affected badly and it came in tv news yday. Local people walked as buses were stranded. Better to avoid.

re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

Thanks, folks!

Not good news, I suppose.
Any update on the Kuppanur-Yercaud route? The resort front desk person is saying Kuppanur road is good. He may be wanting me to come in since he might lose a booking otherwise. So, may not want to trust him completely.

Regards
Rex

Resort was gracious enough to cancel our reservation owing to 'natural calamity' and refund the days.

From what I have heard from my friends is that things are back to normal. I would suggest you to double check with hotel reception in case if you have made any bookings.

re: Bangalore - Yercaud Queries. EDIT: Avoid the Danishpet route!

Is this is the Yeracaud - Kuppanur - Harur stretch that is bad or just the Kuppanur - Harur part ? I did Yercaud - Kuppanur - Salem - Bangalore a month couple of months back, it was still enjoyable despite the odd stretches where roads were being laid. The road though is certainly narrower.
