HVK sir, if I recollect correctly you have done it right? But as rkbharat says, I can go, till I can go no further and then just wish I had a 4wd!

@HVK, sir have you managed to see the Ladakh itinerary? I have tried to get in as many points of interest as possible, without straining the vehicle and the drivers. Do you think all this is possible?

Gautam.

Lot was getting done...

Hi,

A lot of under ground silent work was being done and hence I was not posting.

Finally, on March 31st, the story was confirmed.

Looks like Mission Impossible, but this is what we are planning to do.

Convoy size confirmed: 12 (4 Swifts, 1 Xylo, 1 Corolla, 1 Pajero, 1 Palio, 4 Bullets)

Total Team: 31

Leaving Bangalore: 3rd Sep 2010 and back 28th Sep 2010.

My plan is still on: Blr-Leh-Blr the plan is to leave after 30th Sept - cos half yrly load needs to be off the back! I havent found the time for preparing a plan, but hope to be ready with it this month.

Leaving after 30th Sep? Is that not a risk? Since Sep is off-peak and the end of season, you will be in Ladakh in the first week of Oct. If you look back in 2009, the roads started to close right at that time.

Just a thought, better to be safe and rethink, I would suggest.

Whoa, that's a big group, talk to HVK to understand the pain of doing management of such big convoy, specially for such big trip and you will have lots of problems already resolved.

Thanks a lot Bharat. I have in my “to-do” list to revert to HVK on the details and plug the gaps as much as possible. You are right, it is a nightmare and would need all the support to manage this.

No, I did not try Maisimik la in 2009 (Scorpio), but I tried in the Matiz in 2004 and failed.
Saw your Ladakh itinerary, sent you comments in PM.

What Rajiv says is absolutely correct - travelling in large convoys can be a formidable task and several physical and mental constraints have to be overcome. Happy to help any time.

Looking at the convoy, guess i can do this trip in my Getz as well. Any possibility of getting the car serviced in Leh?

Hai Souvik,

So the convoy has grown since we started discussing off line 4-5 months back. This sure is a man size convoy, trip would surely be exciting with such a big group.

It's nice to know your time table, I know when NOT to drive to Leh now

All the best in planning and execution.
