Drove to udupi via Shiradi. Road is pretty good and fully patched up.

Hasan to sakleshpur is bit rough but pothole free. Gundya to Mangalore is also fully patched.

Overall a decent option for someone looking for a fuss free drive

The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

Did BLR-MLR via Shiradi today. It was a heavy traffic day and also the years first Dharmasthala padayatre has begun. So a lot of devotees walking along the highway. There were also vehicles accompanying these devotees with supplies occupying the left lane in some sections. So had to be extremely careful. There are banners at multiple places in the ghat section asking vehicles to exercise caution.

The Hassan Sakleshpur is still the worst section of the route. The roads are very rough and difficult to maintain speed.

Heads-up guys. CR Patna bypass was closed from bangalore side today morning 6 AM. Don't know the reason as not a single sole was around. Even the toll guys didn't know. Drove inside the town and roads are in very good condition.

The CR Patna bypass was closed even last weekend during my travel. I noticed a board that said that a bridge is under repair.

Any recommendations for non-veg breakfast options on Bangalore-Hassan road ? I love eating at Mayura & Swathi but some friends want non-veg options . Thank you.

If you truly would like to dive into some local delicacies, I suggest you drive straight Into Hassan, it's a small detour and you have this one. Strictly for guys only!

Re: The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

Couple of months back rode to Mullayanagiri from Manglore, took NH75 and at Uppinagadi took the deviation towards Guruvayanakere -Ujire - Charmadi...

Road between Uppinagadi - Guruvayanakere was superb and Charmadi route was decent.

Sharing 2 videos, will give a good idea on road condition.

Re: The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

I was in Udupi and Mangalore over that past weekend. The roads are good now in comparison, they have done some patch work and filled up the potholes in most places. The stretch from Hassan onwards is pretty good now.

It's not levelled properly, but far better than the earlier situation. I just hope it holds once the first rains arrive.

There is Empire one just before Swathi towards right and one just before Hassan toll on the left. Remember seeing a review of Murli Militry Hotel. Seem to be popular among non-vegetarians. I have no personal experience with either.
