How much do you pay for your broadband?

I have had a very very bad experience with ACT. Their response time is downright not acceptable. Just yesterday I decided to close my account with them and will try out someone else. It might be because of the area where I live has this issue as there are lot many trees hence the chances of wires snapping are more , but personally I did not have a good experience with them. One outage took more than 4 days to rectified with frustrating follow up calls and with no means to escalate the issue.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I am on bsnl 8mbps 60gb rs 2950 plan.No other provider can give reasonable speed in my area. 3G dongles dont work inside home.Cellphone too have range issues
I have also reliance cdma netconnect bb+ dongle (3.1mbps)as backup ,it gives less than 10 percent speed of the Bsnl shown below

If it is reliable and no down times occur, I'd be happy to move onto this. Can anyone help me out here?
I moved from Airtel to ACT, their service is not very dependable, face frequent disruptions and their call center has not been reachable for over 3 weeks now. When the connection is on ,its good and gives you the consistent speed promised.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I moved from Airtel 2Mbps/30GB ADSL to ACT 20Mbps/60GB FTTH about a year ago. I was paying roughly the same for the older Airtel connection (although it included the landline telephone as well) - around Rs. 1400 vs. Rs. 1575 for the ACT one. But the increase in speed is phenomenal, to the extent that I have given up watching satellite TV altogether in favour of streaming video. Reliability too has been outstanding, with only 2-3 planned outages in the last 1 year, each time for a maximum of 30-45 min.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Provider - Hathway
Speed - 50MBps
FUP - 40 GB
Cost - 1300/- p.m.
Reliability - 8/10 [Works most of the time, downtime of probably 0.5-1 day per month on an average]

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Till few months back while I was working in Gurgaon, I had opted for You Broadband Prepaid service. The cost was 990 INR for 3 Months, Fair usage: 55GB at 2mbps and later unlimited at 512KBPS.
Only down side of this service provider is that you will have to buy a wifi router other than the basic modem that the company provides at 1000 INR.

Satisfaction level with respect to the amount paid: 10/10
Download Speed during fair usage: Awesome.
Download speed after fair usage: I use to get download speed averaging 45-50kbps.
Can I recommend it to anybody: Yes, totally recommendable.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Using YOU Broadband in Pune (Aundh Area).
Plan : Approx 2200 Rs for 3 Months
Speed: 1 Mbps without any FUP. Always get full speed.
Quality: 99% Uptime for me. Only sometimes the connection goes down.
What you get: You get their cable modem and no wifi router so you need to buy that yourself.

Right now I am using Airtel broadband in Noida. I want to cut down on cost. So which ISP is the next best option?

Can you please mention what is the plan speed and cost that you are paying.
Also what other options are there in your area, did you check that ?
In many cases ISPs are notorious in the sense, they will be providing a connection in the adjacent building but not in mine. I have faced this in Pune.
Just don't opt for ISPs like Tikona and such. Even if you need to pay more, i always suggest going with an operator which gives consistent speeds and 99% or so uptime. Airtel surely is one of them from what I have read.
YOU broadband is a hit and miss and depends a lot on your area.

I stay in Aundh area of Pune and YOU is very good here but there is an adjacent area called Baner and I have heard bad reviews of people using YOU Broadband in that area.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I have been using Airtel 4G LTE (router) for past 6-8 months.
Apart from the slightly expensive tariff rate, I have no problems what-so-every (*touch-wood*)
Here's a snapshot of my speed :

Thats impressive, especially the upload speed. In airtel you never get upload speed above 1 Mbps. here you are getting above 3 Mbps.

Is the technology for 4G LTE router same as ADSL broadband? Can you please throw some light how it works? I mean the details of equipment installed at your home to get this working?

Here's a snapshot of my speed :
How much are you paying for the 4G connection.

Here in Hyderabad, Beam Telecom provides speeds upto 50 MB. I personally use a 15 MB connection costing 1110 per month.

Downtime : Hardly any
Rating: 10/10

Beats any provider in the state.

It's like a normal router - except it has a SIM slot .Plug and play.

This might give you some idea :

@gauravdgr8 : It's 2000/- + tax for 40GB

Pros: Super-fast. Zero down-time (for me at-least)
Cons: Have to watch my uploads/downloads.40GB over in 10-15 days.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

How is the internet connection that comes bundled up with the tata walky? They have a 400 Rs per month combo plan with 15000 sec talktime and 15 GB data. I am ok with their Service in my area, I just want to know how the speed is (since it's a wireless walky).

I have been using the 4G LTE service from Airtel too, for the past year or so.
The experience has been less than spectacular !
Where I reside, the Airtel signal is quite weak, only 2 out of 5 bars.
Initially there were a lot of signal issues & it was so bad that it was practically useless.
I had to dowse around the apartment holding the CPE like a diving rod, looking for signal strength.
When signal strength is low, you face frequent "drops", each disconnect lasting up to 15 minutes or so.

Yes, when it works, it works quite well - bandwidth is impressive, but latency is quite high.
My Mac-Mini especially has a lot of trouble with Airtel's 4G.
As I understand it, the 4G service here in India is over 2.3 GHz, which is not the Global standard.
As more & more connections are made to a "Cell", quality for all will suffer.
The 4G "device", or CPE as they call it, installed at my home ( model ALR-W192 ) is from a Chinese firm called Asia-Telco.
Like NimbleGuru has mentioned, all you need, other than a power outlet nearby, is a SIM card.
The best part is that the device comes with an internal battery, which means you can move it about quite easily & tide over short interruptions in power.

Yes, the 40 GB plan is Rs. 2K, if I remember right, the tax is 12.5 % ( so total of ~ Rs. 2,250 per month ).
After 40 GB, the speed decreases to 256 Kbps.

My advice is, get the 4G LTE device & test the signal strength & quality ( just like with DTH ) before opting for it.
You need to pay for the device, which last year was Rs. 4 K.
You'll also need a regular post-paid SIM, which is as per the regular process.
.
