Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

Before lockdown, I was commuting through Delhi Metro and Battery Rickshaws to reach my office in Delhi. Post lockdown I think I won't be comfortable in travelling in either one of them. So I am contemplating buying a hatchback once the lockdown is lifted.
I am confused between Ignis Zeta (For: Space, Practicality, Engine, Against: Build Quality) or Altroz XT (For: Safety, Build Quality, Features, Against: Mediocre Petrol Engine, Questionable ASS, TAMO being in loss and looking for investment partners).

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

Now that WFH seems to be turning out to be the norm going forward, I'd first buy things to have a more comfortable home office..
a. a more comfortable chair
b. mouse pad
c. table fan

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

In a way I actually did purchase something. As soon as it became available in Amazon, got a hair trimmer. This should help put off visit to saloon for a couple of months for me and my son.

I had ordered a laptop before the lock down and paid for it (Dell). Still waiting for that

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

First purchase done.
Ordered this on 21st March and soon lockdown started so it has been in Waiting to dispatch list since then. Just checked yesterday with status unchanged. Surprisingly, on product page it showed if ordered today will receive on 4th may. So, cancelled previous one and ordered a new one at 6 pm yesterday. Again a pleasant surprise and it was delivered at 11 am today. It seems mobiles are still undeliverable but some accessories can be bought.

FYI- I am using the same 3 cables since last 1 year and they are pretty reliable with support for fast charge. Cost is 269 with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

My water purifier stopped working and one A/C is barely working. I tried my level best to make both running for so long, but water purifier transformer is bailed out . So I have to get the basic necessity of water to be addressed first and voted for house hold items.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

I plan to buy below items, and some of items in my list are something I would call essential but not able to buy them because of lock down.

(1) Ceiling fans, had placed order for the same on Amazon before lock down but can't get the delivery, due to lock-down rules. The same is also not available in neighborhood markets as the electric shops have still not opened up.

(2) Microwave Oven: It would have been a useful in lock-down period to ease the cooking/re-heating process.

(3) A new computer monitor for boosting productivity, I already have a monitor, but had been planning for a dual monitor set up with horizontal and vertical orientation.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

Nothing..at best maybe a headphone, my old one broke. I can live without it. With jobs at stake there is no way I will spend a single penny that is not essential.

As a rule I always have 6 month average expense in reserve. This will go up to 10 post covid. We are living in absolute uncertain times.

My only outflow is home emi else no other liability. I so much wanted to buy the Hexa or Harrier with some loan, but wife put her foot down saying whatever we can buy in cash will be our car and we ended up with Nexon. I fear to imagine, with home EMI and then I having to shell out car EMI would be disastrous.

Voted for others. Planning to buy stocks of certain companies /sectors where i expect to see a decent profit after 5 years (locked till then). Also, planning to buy a dishwasher in the coming months, but the first preference would be stocks.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

Voted for household items. I had planned for small household items (not very costly). Other than that not much. My laptop although old can still conk out a year or two. I have newer appreciation for the stuff me or my family already have i.e. car, motorcycle, house and appliances.
By some remarkable twist of fate we are stuck in a small town in Maharashtra where, we have a self-contained home. Thereby we are able to escape the tough aspects of the lockdown i.e. we have a small 'aangan' with a garden on all sides, supplies are easy to procure with some items being available at our doorstep, a helpful elderly couple for neighbors. The lockdown has revealed how a lot of things we gloat over are really fragile.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

Lockdown has taught me that we need very little to live a good life. I have been able to save a considerable amount of money. Though I wish for a lot of things like restoring my RX135 and vacation with family, I think these can wait till economic clarity is achieved.

I am thankful to God that I have a job and have been able to help a few with whatever I had in this crisis.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

I am actually thinking of selling my cedia sports.
I bought a cedia sports in March first week. It was given immediately to my FNG and had paid some an advance to get all parts n then start work
Some stuff like suspension were done and then lockdown happened and it’s there

Cedia was not even a want but actually a wish.
the future economic scenario, I am not sure if I’ll get my monthly salary or retain my job for long . Bonus is already gone. Wondering if I should put more money in the car or save it for the rainy day.

Big tussle between heart and mind
I got the cedia after lots of search and effort so it’s a prized thing, I have barely driven it 10-20 kms- test drive and from rto to FNG.
What helps is cedia is not a easy car to sell off too.

I am thoroughly confused

Voted for not planning anything earlier but my wife's car battery has gone completely kaput. Need to replace it asap.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

I live in the tanker mafia dominated area of Bengaluru. The water quality is not great and hence my top most priority is to get a RO water purifier installed at home to stop dependency on the 20 liter water cans.

Also, planning to buy a 27" monitor for aiding WFH. Working off office laptop strains my eyes.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

I plan on buying books on drawing, sketching and rendering to improve on the said skills. Nothing else really, in particular.

But in all honesty, I think this is a wake up call to remind us that stuff can and will go south in next to no time at all, and this period of turmoil has taught me a valuable life lesson: to save money for when I need it the most, and to think twice before making financial decisions in future.

Re: What's the first thing you'll buy after the lockdown ends?

A couple of things to buy

1) Need to do a better WFH setup- So looking for monitors, a good WebCam and accessories.
2) The car battery is going down- need to replace.

But more than that, sitting inside and observing things that I have - I need to dispose of many things that no longer are of any value to me. This is a higher priority before BUYING.
