re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Sunday, we had a meal of take-away from KFC (Veg Zinger Burger) and Mojito which we enjoyed while on the move

Burger is Rs.85++ and horrible in taste. My favorite burger still remains from King & Cardinal in Himyathnagar

Mojito was priced at Rs.45. Very nice !

Post that Kulfi at Celebrations in Sindi Colony. Almond Kulfi @Rs.45(Excellent)

Yesterday, decided to avail the 1+1 offer at Subway, Himayathnagar

Bought 2 X 2 subs (Rs. 110 each)

2 Corn Peas
1 Veg Shammi
1 Veg Patty
2 Diet Coke ( each 50 bucks..that's MRP...yucks)

Total : 320 bucks

Excellent service. No hesitation in adding extra lettuce, onions and jalepenos. As i am on low calorie diet no cheese, no mayo and wheat bread.

Here on, my monday dinners are going to be Subways as its amazing VFM and anyday better than those awful burgers from KFC and McD

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

The place is not as big as Needs. It's very small and run by a punjabi couple. The food quality is quite decent.

Thanks

What else would you expect from these franchise outlets' burgers?

KFC is especially bad. McD is at least borderline tolerable.

And you remind me of my bachelor days when we had no gas or stove (and therefore cook) at home. Dinner used to be a Sub for 2/3 days every week! Despite that heavy load of subs for such a long while, I still haven't lost my appetite for one.

Regards,
spadix

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

I know that most foodies on this thread prefer the spicier version of the biryani but this call is to recommend the top 2 Irani Style(milder version) biryani joints in Hyderabad. Would prefer joints with family settings and parking options.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Venky's Xprs, Banjara Hills Road Number one.
Its between the Sarvi Bakery and Road Number 10 junction.

They have a limited menu.
Grilled Chicken Burger: 77.
Tender Grilled Chicken: 75 (Quite nice, I ordered this. Its served with a bread)
Kati Kebab Roll: 70
Chicken Lolipop: 66
Chicken Hot Dog: 70
Chicken Nuggets: 60/87 for 6pc/8 pc
BBQ Wings: 66

Tandoori Roast Chicken: 309/160/87 for full/half/portion
Garlic Pepper Roast Chicken: 309/160/87 for full/half/portion

I also ordered a half Garlic Pepper roast chicken. The size appears a little small. But the taste was nice. The meat was not over marinated. The chicken had good texture.

This place will give KFC a run for its money.

They also stock the Venky's frozen dishes.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Picked up mutton and prawn biryani from the Clay Pot takeaway on the KBR Park perimeter road.

The prawn biryani was decent. The prawns were fresh and clean.
The mutton biryani had soft tender pieces of black mutton. Yep the mutton pieces were all black in color. It was also spicy.

No subtle flavor in either biryani. I am repeat the prawn biryani, but the mutton biryani is way to average in my honest opinion.

Clay Pot has an offer. Like them on facebook. Get 10% off in your bill.
They will use your name+mobile combination to verify if you did like them on facebook.

Biryani tastes best when had as soon as it is ready. Their first lunch handi opens around 12:30 or so and dinner handi at 7:30 or so. You will benefit by getting the fresh rice and also that there will be no need to wait for tables. This said, even the waiters are not hurried at such times since more than half the restaurant will be empty so expect more personalised attention. Enjoy!

Konas:Road no 46 (jhills)dead end ..overlooking durgan cherevu

Nice venue .You can either sit in closed a/c room or the lawn area ,either ways you will face the lake

We ordered

Schezuan Chicken -Nice and spicy
Chicken Kali Mirch- Good
Phulkas

Total bill for 2 was 650 (On the higher side but worth it for the view)

Directions:-

Take Left from monstor.com office on road no 45(jhills) and then take the 1st right and drive all the way to the dead end.

You have the Konas on the left and Marakesh(Those white tents which one sees on the opposite side of inorbit mall)

Paradise is pretty bad. His USP is the huge amount of red chilli powder he adds to the biryani, this makes it popular with the people who (no infraction please).

I checked out the spanking new amreecan ishtyle Venkys XPRS sometime last week and found the crowd there really bad.
