Re: Which watch do you own?

Watch ethusiasts, what are your thoughts on this cheap(?), minimalist, clean-looking sports chrono with tachymeter? Is it worth a buy or a skip? Can it turn out to be classic in an affordable category? Can it suit a swap with Nato or Leather strap?

- Quartz movement
- Mineral glass
- Water resistance is 100 meters
- Day and Date display
- Tachymeter but non-rotating bezel
- Standard Chronograph
- Yellow-coloured seconds hand
- L x W x H = 47.5 × 42.3 × 11.4 mm
- MRP ₹ 11,995 (incl. of all taxes)

Re: Which watch do you own?

A beautiful watch. Casio Edifice even though comparatively cheaper is great value for your money. I have an edifice EF-550 with Sapphire Crystal for a shade over 13000. It beats many other watches much above its price.

Casio is an authentic watch company and will have the respect of watch aficionados.

Added this tiffany dial casio recently. Loved the minimalist design and small dial size.

Re: Which watch do you own?

New watch itch? try getting a new strap for your existing watch instead! It can sometimes completely transform a boring watch into something TASTY!

For example: Here is my 12 year old Fossil which originally came with a leather strap but then, a few years into owning it, the leather strap gave up. So i switched to a metal band that i found in a local store.

Over the years it got rather boring to look at and i wanted to step it up a bit.
Very recently switched to an olive nylon strap and oh my my, it looks so much better. Now i find it rather difficult to take it off my wrist.

Unintentionally also created an amazing looking watch and wallet combo

Similarly, got the James Bond style strap for my Seiko 5 which originally came with all black Nato strap.
Here is a picture reference for the original nato strap:

and here it is with the new strap:

The new strap is a two piece so the watch sits rather flush than the nato strap. I still find the nato strap more comfy than the new one but new does look fresher!

The nylon straps look good. Can you share where you got them from?

Got it from invella

just an FYI: They do not manufacture, they just buy straps from alibaba and stock it here. You can find the same straps on Alibaba for 1/6th the price.

Re: Which watch do you own?

For Nylon or Nato straps, visit the mooi straps website. They have a huge collection, and are very reasonably priced as well. Have bought some straps, and the experience was good.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Had been using my Panerai Luminor base for around 10 years now. The watch originally came with a black leather and rubber strap combo. Wanted to spice it up a bit so on a recent Singapore trip, picked up this orange strap from the Panerai store. Changing the strap is pretty straight forward and takes less than 5 minutes. Panerai straps are available between 12-20k depending upon the material and adds some good versatility to the watch

However, on looking at the watch in the store, I found some irregularities with the paint and finish of the watch.

If you look at the Longines paint at numeral 6 and 9, as well as the way "Swiss Made" is written, you will see that the finish is absolutely bad. Even Tag Heur's finish was below my expectations. Could it be that these guys are doing shady stuff on the side? Am I overthinking or should one buy such watches from their official stores only?

I clicked a pic of another watch from the same store and the finish was much better in this watch. Seiko Astron from the Seiko store located in the same mall has finish which is miles ahead of the Longines one.
Nothing new her, TAG isn't famous for its fit and finish and no, Ethos is totally legit. In my experience a Seiko would usually be better finished for the same or sometimes for even much lesser price than these more affordable Swiss brands like Tissot or even TAG. A friend was looking to get the PRX and after checking out the Citizen tuyosa, he was shocked how much cheaper it was and yet felt more expensive.

Re: Which watch do you own?

The Seiko Kakume(square eyes) speedtimer is one of the favorites of watch nerds and Seiko enthusiasts. Mine is extra special it came with a n authentic stelux SS bracelet, has arrow hour and minute hands, yellow seconds hand. It’s an extremely rare spec and I was extremely happy that I was able to score this watch. It is undergoing a restoration and was partially ruined by a watch maker who had no concept of fly back hands. I gave it to him because the watch was gained 2-3 minutes everyday. Please be very careful in selecting the watchmaker when giving these priceless beauties for restoration.

PS I got a new bazel insert for this watch.

I got this from US (amazon). Casio India website should have the MDV107 model which is the same watch but comes without the marlin logo.
