Am assuming that by 'move', you mean that the post number itself changes. Wouldn't it be possible to tag a post and bringing up the tagged thread only? Similar to bringing up search result!!

Just my 2 cents.

+1 to this. We can Star the useful post. Just like the stars appear on the thread when we rate it. But here, a single star is enough.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Almost in every Official T-BHP review, the reviewer mentions how a particular feature is present in this particular variant upwards or that feature doesn't exist in some other variant.

If the manufacturers do share the equipment list vis a vis the variants on offer with the reviewers when the cars are given for the review, can you please share the same in the Review Report itself. I'm sure the review plus the variant comparison will make it very very comprehensive.

Both these suggestions are brilliant, and would make life easier on the members and on the moderators.

Is it feasible to allow users to delete their post in the same timeframe as the Edit option is allowed? This may reduce the load on mods a bit?
Deleting a post is left up to the moderators, and the report button is for the same. But this is, nevertheless, a good idea and can be implemented. Perhaps a time frame of 10 minutes should be enough.

A Newbie usually when posts it goes through a review and then appears on the thread for the first 25 posts.

Now when i am on Team BHP and if a Newbie quotes me and posts, i get an instant alert that someone has quoted me and when i go to the thread to read the response there is none as the post is still under review by a moderator and sometime it takes 5-10 mins for the post to appear.

I guess a simple fix would be to have the alert sent once the post has been approved so as it does not look like a wrong alert.
This has happened to me before. It would be great if I get the 'you've-been-quoted' PM once the post is up and in view.

I have two suggestions:

- Could we have a thread/section that is basically a database that consists of contact information like phone-numbers, helplines, email IDs, addresses, etc. of the dealers and service centers of all car companies across the country? It can be segregated into a city-based or a zone-based log.

It would be really helpful for those who want quick contact-info of the companies.

Also..

- Could we have a few more smileys/emoticon options in the options-list please? Just to spice things up a bit.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I have recently switched to "Standard Blue" style for the site. I find it soothing on the eyes.

But in this style, the main menu bar (containing tabs Portal, Forum, Classified, Test Drive etc.) is not visible.

Any solution?

Thanked for nothing??

See the number of posts, and the number of thanks. How can a person with nil posts be thanked twice??

(I actually mean - "time to move the thanks button").

I think when a person is a Newbie the post count can show zero even when the person has made some posts. Hence resulting in the person getting thanked twice with post count still being zero.

Edit:
mr.sinha has made the following posts thus far:
* After 9 cars, 1 motorbike and a Cessna, I am finally a T-BHP member now !!! (thanked twice for the original post)
* Which watch do you own

Posts in Introduction & Shifting Gear don't count, but if a post is good, people do click the Thanks button

Umm, no. In the screenshot, among the 2 people who have thanked him, I'm one of them. I liked the detailed intro and hence had clicked the like button. Did it on purpose, not because I wanted to quote him! GTO has already mentioned that he doesn't want to move the Thanks button anywhere.

I think its because the newbie has posted in a thread where the posts are not counted to your total tally. He was thanked for those posts.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I really do not get why anybody should thank Mr. Sinha for those posts. While people are free to thank anybody for just about anything, going by my own experience and other posts here, people do tend to hit the "thanks" button when they intend to use the "quote" button.

I may also clarify that I have nothing against Mr.Sinha. Just that I felt that this particular post was a good example of how people get confused.

On xda forums (which uses same software as ours), there is a theme which hides the thanks button. I am not very keen on that particular "feature" when it is implemented in a theme. But, just pointing out an issue.

that Thanks button is kind of a multipurpose button which could mean:
- gee thanks!
- wow!
- i agree!
- that's funny! lol
- thanks for sharing!
- thanks for that information!

also, the folks who have thanked mr.sinha for his post are .anshuman and prateekm, which leads me to believe they genuinely thanked mr.sinha and it wasn't a case of confusion.

nevertheless, with regards to your point of moving the Thanks button away from the Quote button, i'm very much in agreement (i once accidently clicked the Thanks button when i was just moving my mouse pointer across -sensitive trackpad)

Why don't we have a "Reply All" button for PMs?

if there is, please let me know.
