Clearly stardom doesn’t win you 20-20 matches.

Selectors should have gone with almost all new (2/3 exceptions may be like bumrah) team who will have the hunger to perform. Probably like U-19 concept for 20/20 WC, No player can repeat. This team looks like a dad-bod team.
The change of captaincy has been a complete failure for them. Rohit should be the captain as long as he doesn't ask to make someone else the captain.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Why so many spinners chosen for bouncy Carribbean pitches?

This will always be true due to the celebrity culture have. Unless we care to win trophies instead of hero worshipping nothings gonna change.

Cos Carribean pitches will get slower and to be honest except for Bumrah we don't have any other world class pacer right now. Only if Shami was fit to play. Siraj is a debacle who keeps on giving runs when needed most. Arshdeep hasn't learn anything since a long time and his yorker frequency which got him noticed has reduced as well. Less said about Avesh the better. Natrajan who is doing well wasn't even picked as reserve. Atleast hardik is showing some improvement in bowling.

Honestly if there is a chance to make semis and finals then it's only with our spin attack + Bumrah + the batters. We should play Bumrah + one more pacer and Axar, Jadeja and Kuldeep. Gives batting depth plus hardik can do the needful if 3rd pacer is needed.

I dont mind the team crashing out in the Group stages with a bunch of youngsters! That is provided you pick them. Unless these senior players themselves opt out which is unlikely they'll continue playing for as long as possible.

This is a good thing from Team India's perspective. They can get extra time to prepare for the WT20!

In a 20 over game? the pitch will become slow maybe after 40 overs, by then the game is over.

Moreover, with so many foreign players playing IPL, spinners are easy picking for most.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Sanju Samson now joins the club of cricketers who lost their form after being selected in the world cup squad. Is it just a coincidence or are they all complacent now?

Re: The Cricket Thread

Murali Kartik has to be the worst commentator I've ever heard. He along with Sanju Manju & Anjum Chopra form the unholy trinity of verbal diarrhoea for me.

What sets MK apart is his averseness to pronounce the letter "R". He just screams "Sixaa!" "Faww!" & his favourite "Oh my Wahd!!" repetitively with generic, tired clichés thrown in the middle.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What’s wrong with third umpires giving horrendous decisions even having technology to support them, waist height no balls, overhead wides, a run out and few more.

Is it so difficult for them to analyse the replays

Re: The Cricket Thread

With really tough opponents pitched against us in the group stages of the upcoming World Cup, I am getting worried about our chances of moving into the Super Eight!!!

You are absolutely right.
If somehow we can defeat these heavy weights and move to Super 8 then we can easily negotiate the likes of England and Australia

Re: The Cricket Thread

The United States team for the T20 World Cup has been announced. Unsurprisingly, majority of the players are of Asian origin - primarily Indian and Pakistani.

On a personal level, i am happy with the selection of Noshtush Kenjige - son of an acquaintance and an original resident of Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka. Hope he does well.

Isn't Corey Anderson the former New Zealand all rounder who held the fastest century for quite some time? Or is he a namesake?

Surprising that Unmukt Chand (once upon a time was highly rated in domestic circuit and India probable too) couldn’t make it to the US squad, but good to see a known face “Saurabh Netravalkar” in the squad. He left India after doing his engineering and was snubbed by Indian selectors after playing Under-19 World Cup and spending few years of Mumbai Ranji before getting serious for his Software career. And now would be playing against India.

Dream of playing for India to against India.
