I would love to see Sachin and Ganguly open for the last time in Australia, but IMO the selected team is not that bad as pointed out to be. What the selectors could have done was to chalk out the plan beforehand rather than anouncing this suddenly in the midst of the tour. The seniors should be given a proper farewell which does not happen most of the time. So this is nothing new. Even Steve Waugh faced the same thing after doing so much for Aussie cricket.

That sounds real good to me - at least, for the duration of the ODI series, I won't have to buy my own booze

Believe me, Aussies would rather prefer the lethargic seniors than the young guns (they know about seniors by experience and by beating them again & again).
Now they must seriously re-work their strategy to take on India in ODIs.

That is your theory!

Aussies are having a laughter of lifetime for getting rid of Sourav, Laxman without bowling even one ball!

Nope. They do not require any strategy to beat this team in their soil. All they have to do is ask Hayden and symonds to stay there and the runs will keep on accumulating. That's it. Very simple.

Lol, I must meet up with you on my next trip to Bangalore Diabloo - just to see for myself if you are really as naive as you make yourself out to be in your posts

The Aussies will make mincemeat out of the "youth" ful line up that you are getting so ecstatic about. Also, forget about anyone else, I have my doubts about whether the Vice-captain (and playboy) will notch up any knocks of significance in the series. Poor guy......too many hectic night schedules you know!

Shewag did the job for India once again in this series and those were very important runs. As discussed earlier in this thread PATHAN=SCAPEGOAT @rks- U there

Bhajji back to add strength to the spin department.

So what is the decent score on this batting wicket (400?)

All the commentators are describing this wicket as a batting beauty. The par score here would have been 500; but it seems highly unlikely.

Dravid started decently, but was really struggling later in his innings. I would have been surprised had he been able to survive. Ganguly seems off-color since Perth and his fans' effigy burning would have only put more pressure on him.

At this moment my bet would be on a 3-1 score.

I'am with you ntomer. With all the BCCI and their jokers had done to the seniors, this would have taken a toll as their concentration
(mentally & physically) definatly would have got dented.

They could have announced the ODI team after this test match. I know there was not much time. But announcing this in between the series may be difficult to digest for some players.

Star Cricket says the average first innings score for the last 5 tests in Adelaide is 486. Too far way for our reach, at the moment.

Yes, very predictable that Pathan would be made the sacrificial lamb. Our coach Kirsten is making the same mistake that Greg Chappell made by unnecessarily shuffling the batting order. Dravid was already successful as opener in Sydney; where was the need to push him back to No. 3? Shastri rightly pointed out that Dravid should be asked to open in the second innings and Pathan sent down the order. I fear that it is only a question of time before Pathan is shunted out of the team by our team management.

I think 400 would be a decent score. But India need to score fast (at about 4 runs per over) if they want to give themselves time to win this match.
