Its a Man Of THE Match award, not the Man of the LAST Match.

The Man of The Match was either Sehwag whose batting saved us an embarassment, or Ponting who's gritty partnership with Clarke ensured that the Aussies drew level with India. We all know what happened after those two left.

These are the people who's contribution had a decisive effect on the match, and hence are men of the match.

I am dissapointed with the way Harbhajan bowled in this match.... he hasnt been doing well for long now and doesnt deserve a place in the playing 11, atleast in tests.
Can't believe sachin was declared the MOM... this is gross.

Really sad to see Gilchrist go.... he was a great player and an even better human being, a rare combination in competitive cricket of today.

But Tendulkar is the 1st rank student, teacher's pet, he can do no wrong. Even his slightest performance is great and has to rewarded & talked about. BTW, who decides the MOM, isn't it the commentary team? Will they miss any chance?

Note: The best way to select MOM is via secret ballot among playing 22 players.

Or the umpires, match referee and the two captains should decide.

ok chalo, to settle this issue, as our politicians would often do, let us give viru the 'deputy MOM' & kumble the 'deputy MOS'. Please let me know if i have left out any, there are still 'additional MOM & MOS' awards to be given.

Take out the first innings score of Sachin from the total and even with Sehway heroics we would have lost the test.

It was a close call but to say that Sachin did not deserve it is a little incompetent remark. I personally believe that in these kinds of matches it is most difficult to give a MoM award. It should have been shared in my opinion as there were so many good performances.

latest is that race charges have been dropped, but bhajji has been charged with abuse slur and fined 50% of match fees.

All because BCCI capitulated in front of aussies and agreed to a lesser charge. for some strange reason, all news channels are claiming its a victory for india.

I dont understand this - you blackmail aussies that we will screw you financially if you do not drop the charges. Simultaneously, u drop charges against their player. Aussies agree to a reduced level charge to keep the series going. Now, how is that a victory? its just a face-saving deal for india.

right thing would have been to let a fair hearing happen. if bhajji had been convicted, then bcci could do whatever it wants. if bhajji had been cleared, then symonds/aussies and procter had it.

I liked these lines from Prem Panicker!

Quote:
On the one hand, various voices from within the BCCI continue to make noises about pulling out of the tour if the appeal doesn’t exonerate Harbhajan (In that case, why have an appeals process? Why not just arm wrestle and settle the thing?). On the other, comes word that Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar have jointly written to Judge Hansen, the Kiwi appointed to hear the appeal, that the charge against Harbhajan be reduced—from 3.3 to 2.8 on the ICC scale.

We await the results; meanwhile, does it strike you as faintly amusing that the ICC is able to calibrate culpability to the nearest decimal point, with such accuracy?

I know why we cannot arm wrestle and settle things... On one team there are the kinds of Symonds and Hayden and on the other side we have the relatively frail Indian side. I dare say that Symonds + Hayden v/s the entire Indian team in arm wrestling would be a no contest. They will win with 9 wickets to spare i guess.
