What a performance by Team India - too bad couldnt go to MAC today.

But,I was there y'day when Sehwag unleashed brutal onslaught on England. That was some experience which I will cherish for a long long time.

Apart from Sehwag's murderous assault, what I found really refreshing yesterday was the APPROACH of Team India.

Not too long ago, in a similar situation, we would have seen "poke-plod-poke-plod & play for a draw" approach.

High time they put Dravid out of his misery.

One should look at the way Sachin was dancing on the ground after the last run's.

He is and will remain great batsman in the world of cricket.

the monkey of the 2nd innings is off the little master's back add to that it was a pleasure to see Sachin score the winning runs after a very long time. Now he will be a player free of doubts and that is a mouth watering prospect.

Was just checking the record books for the top 8 century scorers and calculating the no. of innings per century.

Name No. of innings/no. of centuries Avg

Sachin - 254/41 - 6.19
Ponting - 209/36 - 5.81
Gavaskar - 214/34 - 6.29
Lara - 232/34 - 6.82
Waugh - 260/32 - 8.13
Hayden - 178/30 - 5.93
Kallis - 211/30 - 7.03
Bradman - 80/29 - 2.75

Lets leave Bradman out of it.
Ponting and Hayden have very good conversion rates. Actually Hayden's dropped off drastically and Ponting had picked it up in the last few years.

For someone playing cricket for nearly 20 yrs I still find the conversion rate pretty good.

Guys

No matter how much we keep talking about century #41, this is an instance where 83 was definitely > 103.

India winning is more important that someone adding silverware to his collection. I watched that innings of Sehwag on TV and I havent seen another innings where the batsman played with such savage intent. You change the pace, he hits it. You change the field, he hits it. You change your line, he hits it.

That was a priceless inning. Nevermind that he didnt get to 3 figures - unlike others in the team this gentleman is not overtly fussed about 100s and he certainly doesnt stop scoring even when he gets there - on the last 10 occassions he went on to 201*, 319, 151, 180, 254, 201, 173, 164, 155 & 309, with strike rates of 87.01, 104.93 (thats a triple century!), 63.98, 94.73, 102.83 (thats a double!), 76.71, 70.9, 71.92, 70.13 and 82.4..

These, and the several below-100 scores he's racked up, are those that set up matches for a team to win.

Sehwag.

Best way to say goodbye to him is,
Take kumkum,do tilak on forehead of Dravid, give one Shrifal in his hands with a smile.best way to say Goodbye.
When you have Dhavan,Pujara,Badrinath available to take their space I do not see any logic to keep Dravid and VVS in 11,its hightime even for VVS by offering him VR(etirement)S(cheme)with procedure mentioned above.

Its very interesting to read someone crying at someones achivements ......

One good thing is I can write "n" numbers of lines here to satisfy myself and obviously inline with the discussions.

@ Shewag, keep setting such wonderful basements to win much more matches

PS: Cricinfo - Superstar Tendulkar writes the perfect script

Quote:
Those that aren't Indian struggle to fathom exactly what Tendulkar means to so many millions, and it's doubtful whether even those that live here really comprehend just how much a part of the national consciousness he has become. He is such a unifying force, a personality capable of stirring the emotions in every nook and corner of a vast land

You know I was not very sure when Laxman left, that we would pull this through. With Sachin on the crease, I had my doubts and with very good reason too - but I AM GLAD, I was proved wrong this ONE time. Better late than never and Sachin really pulled us through the day.

BUT BUT BUT - if Sehwag had not fired those 83 in 10 odd overs - if Sehwag had left scoring only 10-20 runs - would things have been different ? How would have India approached the target ?

The fact is - Sehwag's 83 made life a hell of a lot easier for the following batsman to capitalise.

No doubt about that.

But thats not the end of the game there, Gambhir, Sachin and Yuvi played well to ensure that we reached the target safely

Shewag hails Sachin and Yuvi's innings, Dhoni praises Shewag, Sachin and Yuvi, Sachin praises Shewag and Yuvi, Yuvi congratulates all........ But we nitpick individuals on this great win..

Tour to Pakistan cancelled. Good atleast the Pakis will suffer more monetary losses.
NDTV.com: Terror aftermath: India calls off tour to Pakistan

Here's what Shahid Afridi says:

"Cricket should go on if they (India) want to normalize relations with Pakistan," Afridi told Geo television.

Afridi said Pakistan toured India in 2005 and 2007 despite a tense security situation.

"Pakistan never refused and we went there with open hearts because their government and the cricket board gave us the security assurances," Afridi said. "When our government and the cricket board had given them security assurance this time, I think they should have believed us."

Mr Afridi had you lost someone in the attacks orchasterated by your country, you would have known. We have no intention of normalizing relations with you until your government does something about the attacks.

Perhaps you can set up a 20-20 terror league with all the darling(LeT, ISI, etc.) associations of Pak participating in it. It would be a hit in Pak and Saudi atleast!
