Re: The Cricket Thread

For me the shot of the day was when Bhajji flat batted Morne Morkel for a six straight down the barrell. It was a hit that showed the intent and killer attitude...

SouthAfrica Vs India 3rd ODI - 18th Jan 2011

Good match, i feared it would be a repeat of previous match with SA winning this by 1 run taking revenge on india. Was really skeptical about our chances when Pathan left.

kudos to our Tailenders, played much sensible than SA counterparts

SA is having some serious trouble with their batting powerplay. Last two matches, they managed to turn the match completely in Batting powerplay, in India's favour though

Looking forward to the next one!!!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Maybe OT : One gripe with our Indian team is that, the youngistan swear a lot. Guys like Virat, Rohit, M Vijay, Munaf and Yuvraj are the worst. Harbhajan too gets emotional sometimes.

Cmon guys you are on National TV !!!! , shouldn't you be the ambassdors of our country ? I hate Virat for his swearing.

Atleast I have not spotted any other teams being so explicit. They conduct themselves so well on TV.

Hope BCCI gets the drift.

Re: The Cricket Thread

This team is amazing me more.
Dont why i believe this time we can lift the world cup and the primary reason is MS dhoni. The way he handles situations is commendable.A leader has to be aggressive and sensible at the same time and he is actually captain cool.
Yusuf is maturing fast and those 3 sixes were mindblowing. He needs to bat at 5 rather than 7 IMO.
Vijay has got enough chances along with rohit sharma. Both should be shown the door and other youngsters must be tried.
BTW how about Parthiv patel opening instead of Vijay?

Re: The Cricket Thread

Crap! Rain stops play. Hope thats not man made now.
Duck Worth Lewis would be of little help to us.
Any ways I had that feeling the series would be pulled
to the finals to be a decider. Why do I waste my time?

Re: The Cricket Thread

There is a 90% chance of thunderstorms at Centurion this Sunday. It is quite possible that this one day series will also end in a draw.

Pathan I cry for you man...

Unfortunately your country man will berate your magnificent innings only because you could not win.

Probably one of the best innings I have seen

Arre, I have seen only praise for the innings in the news that I have read so far, albeit only headlines.

Yes, it was a terrific innings and now gives the opposition some food for thought. If only Yuvraj and Dhoni could start firing...

I am a fellow country man and I will not berate Mr. Pathan's innings, easily one of the best I have seen. He did his job and splendidly so!!!

Dhoni should now join politics where he can lead without doing any work himself!! I almost forgot when he played a considerable innings!!

Oh!!! So its Tendulkar specific only. I thought there would be consensus on this. Thanks for clearing my doubts.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I just watched the match for his innings!
This guy surely can change the match on his own. We were so near to the win, sigh!!
But the good news is his form may get us the cup
Now what needs to be done-
Sachin and viru opening.
Gambhir at no.3
Kohli at no.4(he deserves to be in team on current form)
yuvi at No.5(not firing with bat but with ball atleast)
Pathan at No.6- and he can be sent at no.3 or 4 also as per situation demands.
Dhoni at no.7- he should not come at no.4 like he did yesterday as he doesnt have the technique earlier on. He should just act as the finisher.
Bhajji no.8
zaheer no.9
nehra at 10
munaf at 11,

This should be the ideal starting 11 with praveen been switched with nehra or munaf at times.

Raina has been given enough chances and he shows no responsibility and acts like he owns the team. He must be shown the door along with rohit sharma and murli vijay. Its high time these guys earn the cap.

Re: The Cricket Thread

lol@spitfire
What Yusuf can do without even hitting a century, many can not even after playing an entire innings.
By the way:
Sachin at No. 18 in list of greatest ODI cricketers - The Times of India

I expect to see Yusuf rise very quickly in this list if he keeps on playing like this.
