I'm trying to figure out what the purpose of the poll on this thread is. There always seem to be a Sydney test starting tomorrow!

Good match towards the end and good turnaround by our boys in the last 10 overs.

Re: The Cricket Thread

It was good, wasn't it ? Lucky Munaf got two wickets with pathetic balls.

And thank God that we will use UDRS in the world cup !

And now for Aus v/s Eng early morning

Re: The Cricket Thread

I wont say India won the match, it was SA who lost it, get the drift?

Now Munaf got the man of the match because Smith played on a rather bland delivery and others were catch practicing the deliveries too were rather innocuous to even school kids!!

Re: The Cricket Thread

^^I agree with Anil. South Africa lost the match rather than India winning it. I appreciate India hanging in there though, some time back, the towel would have been thrown in long back.

But none of the current batsman look technically sound. Apart from Gambhir and possibly Kohli, no one is looking capable of adjusting outside of the Subcontinent.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Without Sehwag and Gambhir our opening has become a bit of a gamble or compromise at this stage with M.Vijay who is nowhere close to being a stable/consistent/dependable batsman at any position! He in my opinion lacks the "temperament" to play mature or situation warranting innings.....which is an extremely needed element in a opener to say the least! In my opinion Vijay should be sent down the order IF they have to retain him in the current team and they should play Kohli and Sachin as a opening pair and try Vijay 1 down or 2 down. Heck VVS Laxman is a better bet than Vijay in these pitches even in ODIs I feel, who given some time can ensure some solidity up the order.

Raina is underutilized, he has the talent to bat better, somehow I get a feeling that the selectors are setting him for failure deliberately by making him bat only in dicey situations! Something is cooking!!!

I agree with you both: Anil and KRRaj completely.

I dont think Raina would be promoted up the order, all eyes are on Yuvi's form. The problem is Dhoni usually promotes himself more often than not and Raina is somewhat fixed at his usual position. I guess for tomorrow's match it would be Vijay and Yusuf opening the batting.
