Re: The Cricket Thread

Dhawan is da one

What a fantastic year he has had since his maiden Test century against Australia...no stopping this guy.

In this match he had reached 200 in the 40th over itself. He smacked 7 of India's 8 sixers and 30 of 46 boundaries.

God bless competition! Till some time back, Gambhir & Sehwag were untouchable in that opening slot but now they are nowhere to be seen. Gambhir should eventually make a comeback but Sehwag has a bleak future.

Btw, this 'A' tri-series was supposed to help our batsman prepare for the impending test series but looking at 300-400 scores it seems all pitches were airlifted from India! Could be a smart move by SA board to not let our batsman get a feel of the real pitches which they will be welcomed with later in the year.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Good to see the Pujara's boys win the triangular today.

That being said, practice all they want, it still takes Dale Steyn just one session to blow India out of a Test match

Yeah! What an engrossing day & what fun to watch. Pieterson turned it around for England.
Full marks to Micheal Clarke for turning nothing into something & giving entertainment to the crowd!
The Umpires spoilt it in the end. Its always a pleasure to see Australia loose & the way Clarke was behaving with the umpire in the closing stages it was as if they were warming up for a street fight.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Reading reports online that England celebrated the Ashes victory by urinating on the pitch. Must have been dedicated to Monty Panesar!

I hope the Match Referee takes notice of Clarke's behaviour to get the match stopped at the end!

Yep., totally agree on this one. It was very much evident that he was interfering too much into the umpire's work and was almost standing on their toes.

If they've done it, then it is stupid & disrespectful. And since this happened right after the presentation, I am sure they did it sober.

The least they could have thought of was that there are players who kiss the same pitch after reaching a milestone

All this talk of country and patriotism and loyalty is just silly. It's a profession like anything else. All these years, the national team was more or less a monopoly and hence players had no option but to be loyal, patriotic etc. Now there are a wide variety of opportunities open to player. If you want a player to play for you, pay him more than whoever else he is playing for. I feel for Sangakarra - he got trapped in this situation. I am sure he prefers to play for the IPL team - but it was rather clever of Ranatunga to go public and trap him like this.

Re: The Cricket Thread

India play 5 Tests in about 40 days in England next June!

http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/...ry/667701.html

Hope this isn't one-way traffic! We will need a lots of standby players.
Usually our players complain that they get used to the overseas condition only in the 3rd Test, atleast this time they won't have that excuse!

With the Gentleman gone, its just a game from now on.

He is "Miss"ter cricket for me.
From missing his "century on debut" to missing umpteen number of recognitions and missing winning a trophy one final time. And finally everyone will miss him.

Goodbye Dravid
