My wife and i would be among the last persons to want Aussies to win but yesterday many prayers were made and nails were bitten wanting them to win

What a great match it was.

But NZ has to win the cup now

No man, it would have felt even better if they had won here and lost to New Zealand in final, have you heard about the statements they were making after beating New Zealand in group stage, it was termed as revenge of New Zealand series cancelation.

Although Pakistan had a great world cup but statements made by some of their supporters and experts were utterly disgraceful. on a side note statements made by many of our sports reporters are downright ugly as well

I thought Babar Azam & to an extent even Rizwan played a bit conservatively. Fakhar played well, its not very often that Starc gets carted around for sixes! Aussies bowled 2 tight overs(1 by Zampa & 1 by Cummins) between overs 15-20 which ultimately proved decisive I feel.

Rizwan and Babar did the right thing so as to reduce risk of losing early wickets. Yes, those 2 overs by Zampa and Cummins brought the total down, otherwise it could have been 190+ and would have been tougher to chase down.

Re: The Cricket Thread

So, who should I support in the finals?

NZ has knocked India out in the last 3 ICC trophies across all formats, so some heartburn. And Australia is...well... Australia.

I am just hoping for a good game now.

Credit to whoever created it.

P.S: Rooting for NZ in the finals. Somehow I just can’t hate that team even if they knocked india out. A bunch of likeable folks

.
Supporting NZ.

An enigma the team is - whenever nobody expects them to win, they clinically and professionally outclass the opponents. No theatrics, no dramabaazi but the results are there to be seen.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The worst thing about this T20 WC is: Win toss, Win Match.
I wonder what would have happened had Kohli won those first two tosses.

That said, what a fun game. So glad to see Pak getting kicked out. A lesson is humility is due for their fans and ex-cricketers.

Rooting for NZ. A genuine bunch of good blokes.

As a neutral it hardly matters. Though NZ have defeated us in crucial matches we still don't feel any dislike towards them like we have for Aussies. So, I am sure most of us would like to see NZ win, but I believe Aussies will win this. They have better batting, better hitters, bowling and fielding both are equal.

Australia in world cups and especially in Finals raises their game to another level. All I want is a good competitive final like the semis with dew not playing spoilsport.

Expected line up.

Starting 11 should be -

Mayank
Rahul
Pujara
Gill
Rahane
Shreyas
Saha
Jadeja
Ashwin
Axar/Jayant
Ishant
Umesh/Siraj

We have rested star performers. I hope that doesn't come back to bite us and we lose a home game or series.

While I personally like the Kiwis, I want Aus to win this. NZ cricket has rejuvenated over the last 5 years and they are at the top across all the formats. Cricket is doing fine in NZ however there has been a massive decline in quality and results for Australia and I hope they don't fade away like WI from few decades ago. An Australian win would do a lot of good for the players and fans.

Re: The Cricket Thread

NZ for the Win!

Once our team gets knocked out, I always root for the nicest guys in cricket! They've taken the place the Windies of the 80s and 90s had as 'favourite team after India'.

But like a couple of people have already pointed out, the Aussies always raise their game when it counts, I think they will take this one. Hope it's a really close, 'down-to-the-lastball' one and the damn toss doesn't make such a big difference.

This is 12. Either Gill or Shreyas will play after 3 seamers + Ashwin + Jadeja + Saha+ 2 openers + Captain + Pujara.

My bad.
Yes, one of Gill/Iyer will play. Gill most likely but I would love to see how Iyer plays in tests considering his fabulous record in first class.

Don't see 3 Pacers playing in India especially against NZ who are more comfortable against pace. Axar was fantastic against England so he will play as 3rd spinner.

And we have everything to gain in this.
If we beat NZ then a second string team did it and that's great.
If we lose then a second string team lost so no big deal.
Win-win 😉
