Re: The Credit Card Thread

I recently got a call from SBI asking if I was interested in Prime or Elite. I decided to go with Prime. Now waiting for the card.

Any card that offers free Lounge access? I have HDFC Allmiles but it no longer comes with the Priority Pass. Had the Amex Platinum Travel card before but the lounge access was paid.

HDFC Regalia offers this for international only and believe it is 8 visits a year. Could be wrong on the count, but I have used it a couple of times this year.

Yes First Preferred card has a priority pass with it, International lounge access 4 times a year and domestic 3 times every quarter.

Premier miles at 3k per annum is a little high I feel. I have a Citi Premier miles but at 1k per annum due to a change over from Citi Jet Privilege card which was discontinued few years ago and I said I would opt out if there is no Jet Privilege. I earn about 20000 miles a year on an average on the Premier miles card which equates to 20000 x 0.45 rupee to be spent on airlines = 9000 rupees on just a 1000 rupee annual fee spent.

Same here.
I got my Prime (pro) card last month.
Nice looking card with Contact-less payment (scary-as-sheet) option included. haha.

First card in my wallet which actually saves some money after paying for fuel.
As in -
Fuel - 100

CC charged - 112

Waiver A- 7
Waiver B- 9

---
Actual CC charge - 96

On all my other CC experiences so far I only received one waiver, and I always ended up paying 103 Rs. for 100 worth of fuel.

Cheers,

Ace.

Which card? I don't see them on HDFC's brochure.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I just received my ICICI HP Coral CC. It has a waiver of fuel surcharge & 2.5% cashback st HP pumps. Coupled with 0.75% cashback which government announced after demonetisation, it seems a good deal. Got it lifetime free

I don't think this is correct.
I have been using the SBI Prime card since a year and I don't think there is any cashback on fuel. There is waiver which is same as the additional amount (surcharge) charged for fuel transaction. Also, the same is not advertised anywhere in their brochure. If they had such a feature, they would have been shouting from the rooftops. The only credit card which saves money on ALL petrol pumps in the Standard Chartered Titanium card.

I meant which Diners card.

Thanks for the link, this offer wasn't there when I was in touch with my HDFC RM. Only Diners black makes sense since the reward cap is reasonable. But it feels too good to be true. A phone for Rs. 30,000 purchased off FK would give 10,000 points which are worth Rs. 10,000? Am I missing something?

Strange. Your have the Prime Pro, too?

Have a looksie below (That's my spend of 800 INR worth petrol):

29/05/2018 PETROL TRXN FEE RVRSL EXCLUDING TAX Credit 8.02
29/05/2018 HPCL 0.75% CASHLESS IN MUMBAI IN Credit 6
29/05/2018 SHIVAJI SERVICE STATIO HAVELI IN Debit 811.80

Similar pattern for another expenditure (Diesel worth 3175.92)

25/05/2018 PETROL TRXN FEE RVRSL EXCLG TAX Credit 31.75
25/05/2018 BPCL COCO PUNE IN Credit 23.82
25/05/2018 BPCL COCO PUNE IN Debit 3,213.40

Am I missing a catch here?

Ace.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

^^

I am not sure what's the catch here.
But if you look at SBI's brochure, it just says that surcharge waiver at petrol pumps but no additional cashback.
May be there is a tax or surcharge somewhere which you might be missing.

Also, I have the SBI Prime card, I am not aware if there is any Pro version of the same.
Can you share a link? If this is true, I will be extremely interested and covert my card to the 'Pro' version

I will check the statement which will be generated later this month and go through it thoroughly.

I was also told about Prime Card, over a call by SBI employee
(I confirmed that he indeed was sbi employee, with the provided email being @sbi.co.in & the fact that true caller showed up the same name)
They mentioned some project SHIKHAR by SBI to reach out to working professionals to offer these cards.

I also cannot spot the "Pro" card or the link on SBI website. (very strange)

Let's wait for others to chip in or my statement to be generated.

Cheers,

Ace.
