What if the EMI starts from next month ? How do I address this ? Am OK if the payment is made in full but EMI should not start.
That's how it works, your limit is reduced by the amount you transacted. It usually takes 2 days to show up, basically a credit and debit of the same amount is shown, then the emi and whatever fees they add.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Hello everyone, had a question regarding SBI Cards. Recently while looking the reward catalogue I found that SBI has removed all the reward items from it’s catalogue, only e-vouchers and subscriptions are available. Has anyone else noticed this and any reason for this?

Noticed this too. They update the catalogue at the end of every financial year. There were a ton of things until 2019 April. Became around half after that and now it's just almost useless stuff.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

My father's HDFC Regalia CC is expiring this month.

Need suggestions for which HDFC CC card to opt for.
Apart from general points benefits, one major point of differentiation would be add-on card facilities which I plan to add myself to. and shall be used for Forex transactions for my upcoming studies.

3 cards are good: Infinia, Diners Club Black and Millenia.
If none are being approved, then Regalia is also good.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I was trying to redeem Payback points for Amazon Gift Card vouchers. After I enter the OTP and place the order, a rather cryptic "You have reached your first 10 days limit of INR 10 Thousands worth of Gift Vouchers." message pops up and then nothing happens!!

Any idea about this?

Is it worth getting a HSBC Visa platinum Credit Card? I already have Amazon Pay & ICICI Coral credit card and I am not much into using credit cards. They are providing with no joining or annual fee.

Based on your general spending patterns, do you see a benefit in getting the new card? If not avoid the hassle.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

Have been using the Yes First Preferred Credit card since 3 years and never faced any customer service issues with it even after the crisis of Yes Bank earlier this year.

In January this year, I also started with HDFC Regalia First Credit card and in the May bill, I was charged Rs. 1000 + GST as annual charges. If the spends exceed 1 lakh in a year then the fees are waived off. Due to the lockdown, I did not spend much. However I was charged the annual fees in just 5 months of usage. I called the customer care and opted for call back. They said they will get back and it's been 5 days. I sent 3 emails in last one month and no reply. Such a big bank and such poor customer care. Yes Bank being so small is better for me. Any inputs.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I am an orthopedic surgeon with a home consultation chamber. I see about 5 patients here everyday. So daily income of Rs 1250-1500/-. I used to collect fees in cash and remit it once/ twice a month. I do not possess a current account. Payments from the hospitals I visit are in Cheque or direct transfer to my account. Of late, many patients are wanting to pay by card or PayTM, etc.
I'm not comfortable in using the online payment platforms as the accounting for tax declaration becomes very complex when multiple transactions happen.
I was wondering if I should install a POS machine to swipe cards. However there seems to be very little information on the bank websites. HDFC and SBI offer current accounts for professionals. Both have branches nearby and I have savings accounts in both of them. However no idea about the POS rental and charges. Plus they have so many features that I'm never going to use. Cheques, DD, withdrawls, etc are never going to be used. Probably just a monthly transfer into my savings account.
Should I just continue the way I've been doing all these years or should I go for something else? The only downside I'm currently facing is that some people do not have even the Rs 350/- that I charge and skimp on payment.

Hi Doc!

Digital payments is the future. And during these pandemic times, it makes things very convenient by eliminating the need to collect physical cash.

You can either have a QR code based payment system which is provided by google pay or paytm which is the most popular among the masses. The only negative is in google pay it works like an account transfer. Hence no credit card transaction is possible.

I would suggest you to take a look at the POS solutions offered by pine labs. The rentals are little on the higher side but they have a robust tracking software which enables you to track your payments using the mobile app. It also provides QR and other wallet integration under one roof.

You just need to download the monthly reports for your accounting purpose. There is absolutely no hassles involved in implementing the same.

Re: The Credit Card Thread

I have a problem. I have an ICICI Platinum CC which expired in July 2020. ICICI Bank sent a replacement card through Delhivery on 8th July. But due to COVID 19, in Trivandrum it is a lockdown and courier services are suspended. My new card is not yet delivered to me till date, 5-8-2020. Only essentials are allowed to be home delivered (Medicines, Milk). My doubt is, since I have not received my new card, can I continue to use my old card which officially expired by July 31? Is there any mechanism that the old card gets de activated only when new card is registered and online PIN is generated?
I thought of making a small transaction with old card, but before that I thought i will post here and get feedback

Srikanth, you should be calling ICICI and/or your Relationship Manager for the right way to go.

Cheers

Normally the old card gets deactivated either by the expiry date or on usage of the renewal card, whichever is earlier.

In view of your scenario, you may want to try transacting with the old card and check if it goes through or gets declined.
