hi fellas, here are some figures seen through my eyes (while driving, of course).....
160 kmph+ @ 4000rpm in my very own safari 4x4-speedo read(had my uncle's gps-true top speed-152);
185 in a friend's city 1.5 vtec @ 6200rpm-long time back-true figure of about 179-180: the city has one of the most accurate speedos;
180 kmph on an accent crd-i @ 4200 rpm:true figure of 169-172 i guess;
129 kmph in my 180 dts-i @ 9000 rpm and 124 @ 8000rpm in my friend's karizma;( actual figures of about 120 and 117 respectively)
the first 2 were achieved in the mumbai-pune expressway;third on ahmedabad route;and the fourth en route mumbai (from vasai)
my goal-to break the 300 kmph barrier sometime in the next 10 years (ha...ha..).....
and more recently, i aspire to break the 250 kmph(actual, not speedo) barrier-will keep you posted on that....

as long as the speedo shows it .... i dont think any one cares
Exactly, i really don't care what the speedo says. Not even my car's speedo. I always claim the Vtec's top speed to be 185kmph and not the 195kmph i did.

How do i know 195 on the speedo is 185 (true speed)? Bcoz when OD tested the Vtec, it hit 195kmph on the speedo while the testing equipment showed 185kmph.

That is so true. According to calculations. The Vtec should hit 179kmph at 6200rpm in 4th gear. I never got to check my car's rpm at 195kmph but thanks to you, i know how efficient the speedo is.

For those who think i got the 179kmph figure by fluke, check this out :

6200 / 0.937 / 4.058 * 72.08 * 2.54 / 100000 * 60 = 179.11kmph

6200 - engine rpm
0.937 - 4th gear ratio
4.058 - final drive ratio
72.08 - wheel circumference in inches
2.54 - converting inches per min (wheel rotation) to cms per min
100000 - converting cms per min to km per min
60 - converting km per min to km per hour.
179.11 - Result (kms per hour)

Hey, I've just seen this thread... missed my notice completely... I've hit 180-somthing on the City 1.5 before I eased off... was VERY QUICKLY running out of road... at about 6000 rpm... that was tons of fun... I am going to push it furthur, if I can (though according to shan2nu, the aerodynamics of the car restrict it by more than 190-odd...), but that is only after I get my rear shocks and suspension fixed, and get onto the Potenza GIIIs... will tell you guys after that...!

Cheers!

sorry guys for not putting details in earlier post.

The bike does not belong to me its my friends bike
I visited UAE in November04 and the road was Abu Dhabi Ruwais highway.
i did 332 for maybe just 4 to 6 seconds did not have guts to pull faster. The guy who owns this SPECIAL BUSA has recorded 355 and its the fastet busa in Gulf weighs only 181 kgs compared to stock 220.
the rolling wheelie i pulled is not some guiness record its common only for me it was special as I managed to do it with just 4 hours riding experience on a SBK. and the fastest i ever rode in india was on RD @ 140kmph so pulling up a wheelie from 180 to 230 was just a dream for me. I still cant believe I did it.
190 in the 929 was on Pune bombay expressway 36 kms in 13 mins with toll stop.

18 or 19 years ago I used to regularly ride at 120 (speedo) kmph on my Enfield Bullet. NH2 between Calcutta and Durgapur. Roads were not good then.

Done 145 (speedo) in my diesel Indica on NH7 just outside of Bangalore

160 (speedo) in Hyundai Accent on East Coast road Chennai to Pondy.
