Oh.. So that's the reason that place has been choked up for the last couple of days. I use that road daily and yesterday it took me more than 40 minutes to cross Mallya Hospital from Cubbon park.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Hosur road between Electronic City and Kudlu Gate junction is added with one more layer of road mix and it's not a good finish. (now the three lanes are uneven without any lane markings). Hope they fix it in coming days.

I wonder why they waste money and make something bad (This stretch of road was very good compared to general standards of road conditions in Bangalore)
Is it under NHAI?

Earlier we had dreaded signals to worry about (Electronic city and Hosa Jn). now roads are becoming bad.

This is escalating further, as the vehicles are not released yet. Effected almost all the cab services, so cab association is protesting against these checks. Any further info?

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Whats the intention of these checks ? Authorities woke up only after an unfortunate incident ? And why are the cops worried about tax receipts? is it not the job of RTA to do that ? Why should they stop all TT's and do these kind of checks ? Will they make the checks regular so that no incidents happen in future ?

This sounds similar to the checks on Volvo's after the fire accidents, when the issue was hot, there was heavy checks, now that everyone forgot no more checks on Volvo's till another incident - i hope bad things do not happen. No one seems to be bothered about the inconvenience with such myopic knee jerk reactions !

Just to clarify, SRK is for Shiva Rajkumar(A popular Kannada actor) and not Shah Rukh Khan.

Mentioning this so others don't get confused.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Biggest P.I.A* vehicles in Bangalore according to rank :

1) Force motors Traveller
2) Tata Winger
3) Mahindra Bolero Pickup
4) BMTC Leyland (off late they are worse in driving than Volvos)
5) BMTC Volvo
6) Auto-rickshaws
7) Bikes
8) Tata Nano (very rashly driven according to most examples I've seen)
9) Maruti Omni (aka zig zagging specialists)
10) Any small car with heavy racing decals & faux exhaust add-ons.

Disclaimer : Only according to what I've seen and experienced in local traffic here over the past few years, if anyone owns any of the vehicles above, I do not in any way imply that they are bad drivers.

*P.I stands for Pain-In

More personal rankings are welcome.

There should be a "0" rank as well!
0) Any vehicle with the word "INFANTS" written on it!

And I think "2" should include Tata Sumo and Indica cabs as well!

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

TT definitely deserves the Number 1 spot. With power srearing, ABS and reckless driver it gets worse for the passengers as well as other vehicles on the road.

Tractors are wild card entrants without any records, indicator, horn etc.

What about cyclists on the right most lane in ORR crawling at 10kmph? Again with no reflectors

Gosh!!
The beauty of this traffic jam (barring few vehicles as seen in the picture) is the LANE DISCIPLINE. Can one expect the same in India?. Unfortunately NO.

I counted only 25 lanes...

Anyway, there are several vehicles who seem to be doing what some Bangaloreans also do - switch lanes unnecessarily creating trouble for others. :-)

There are 25 toll lanes and the cars have formed 50 lanes. Explains the jam. In so many lanes the whole of India would have gone through. Lol.
