Is this the service road to be taken or the next one? However, the next one goes in front of Ecospace :-o

Yes the road below is a one way, but no one, absolutely no one respects it. Hyundai has it's yard behind the passport office, and they go and come through the same road everytime.

Officially it is 4.

A colleague of mine who lives in the apartment adjacent to it says that his security person recollects seeing at least 8 bodies covered with cloth (to assume they are dead) being taken out of the wreckage.

Wonder why the actual figures are always not disclosed officially.

Greed. Nothing but naked greed. And this is the result. The owner of the building did every thing illegal, to ensure that maximum number of "paying guests" (!!???) can be housed in the building. I shudder when thinking what would happen if this PG was actually operational.

May be it is a precautionary measure due to the recent Cauvery related verdict. Plus there are some local political issues, and protest marches may be held in front of certain political leaders' office & homes. BTW, I did notice huge truck traffic movement yesterday evening. Some of the trucks had TN registration. So looks like the borders have also opened up and all blocked up truck traffic has hit the roads.

Tell me about it, they were in full force early in the morning at 7 and were stopping Auto Rickshaws. Good job in deed. And I also read in the news that around 1000 more cops are in training currently and will be joining duty in some time. Hope they become stricter and invoke some sense of fear in people. Else road manners will become non existent in some time.

These same guys had dug up this same stretch about an year back and it was a big messy slushy road you have to navigate through. This was relaid some time back and I was half expecting this turn of events. BWSSB is so predictable that it's boring.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Folks

This morning around 6 15 , a cab had brushed aside the rear door of Eon at the busy Sarjapur junction. I saw the driver of the Eon, a lady waiting beside the vehicle.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Hi,

Took me close to an hour on the city flyover from silkboard, multiple vehicles had broken down, saw an ambulance as well, some glass shards just before Infosys building.

The jam was through out the flyover, would have hardly crossed 10km/hr in the whole stretch.

The toll was also blocked, saw an etios taxi which had met with an accident being towed, plus a company bus had broken down at the toll, which was being pushed by the BETL folks.

Never saw such kind of a jam on the flyover!!

Regards
Shailesh

Looked as if there was atleast one decent accident to the Etios and one cab broke down, both on the right lane and at separate places. I started the flyover at 9 and got off at 9:35am - EC Phase 2. What puzzled me was, why weren't they towed away in that busy hour? Absolutely pathetic if you talk in terms of a tolled road and that too at the morning peak hour. This was the same case yesterday, when a cab had broken down.

So, 2 days back to back jam on the BETL.

The cynic in me looks at the calendar which is close to mid-month and says its got to do with the expected and significant price hike being discussed on the fuel prices thread:

Simple formula:
  1. Hoard the fuel at some point in the supply chain
  2. Two days later sell it at the revised price
  3. Profit

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

These pipes are lying on footpath near HAL Old Airport for more than one year. I remember seeing those during last year durga puja. Still there, blocking footpath partially or completely at multiple places

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

With the IOC, BP and HP petrol bunks running dry (atleast the ones I saw), Shell bunks are having a steady flow of customers. The Shell pump opposite HP in Mahadevapura was pretty crowded. I tanked up at the Graphite main road shell pump as it was comparatively less crowded.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

This morning, one half of 100 feet road, Indiranagar and Inner Ring Road are cut-off for the Bengaluru Marathon. I joined 100 feet road from 12th Main and there were no signages for any deviations, etc (though there were the Marathon related publicity material, booths for water, etc set up on one side of the road). There were also some ASC personnel, NCC cadets, volunteers and cops managing the junctions. Met a very chatty Traffic Sub-inspector who said they are on duty at Kormanagala inner ring road since 4am, per him the blockage of one side will be on till about 11 am.

Found it very difficult to use the wrong side (which is 2 way on account of the other half of the road being closed) of the road to get back home. There were some motorists driving rashly and some even on the other half of the road endangering the marathon runners and volunteers.
