There seems to be some drag race in Jakkur Aerodrome this weekend, the airport road expressway was choked with onlookers. The presence of a constable and NHAI tow vehicle had no effect.
One lane+ was taken over for parking and people happily from the opposite lane jaywalking and jumping over the divider!
Only good think was, this bottleneck seemed to ease up the hebbal flyover while driving back into the city.

This is a royal pain on the flyover. The 2/3 wheelers stop there to see anything being done in the Jakkur aerodrome and block 1-1.5 lanes on an expressway. Mindless people create a hazard on the road.

Ah this probably explains the constant high revving engines I could hear over the weekend.

Vehicles now cannot enter ITPL back gate 3 while coming from Vydehi. They have to go via big bazaar and then take the right most road to enter Back gate 2. See the enclosed image

This idiotic traffic flow system has caused a huge jam from Big bazaar all the way till hope farm. I hope this experiment is taken out at the earliest.

I was a victim of this today. Took 40 minutes from ECC road to Sai Baba Hospital. Hope this is rolled back ASAP.

BTP should understand such short sighted steps are not going to work. This has been a total failure in other areas. The stupid plan of making divided four lane roads to one way is not effective. This make certain road totally traffic free and others congested. Case in point is Whitefield road from Hoodi to Bhoruka junction. This stretch towards KR puram is hardly maintained now and in very bad state. Vehicles hardly use the same. The entire load has shifted to Hoodi- Graphite road.
The entire Bangalore is protesting against steel flyover from Chalukya circle to Hebbal. Surprising that hardly any mention of that in this thread.

Coming to the steel flyover project, already we have a railway station at Devanahalli. It will be easy to lay a new line close to the airport from Devanahalli.
The state govt should tie up with SWR on doubling the existing rail network in Bangalore city so that more suburban trains can be introduced. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, the state govt should make Heelalige station a major transit point.
By this a major chunk of people going by road will switch over to rail.
Not sure why the govt is hell bent on going for complicated and costly projects when there are alternatives available to ease the traffic woes in the city.

I logged in to this thread this morning to mention about the same. The way Deccan Herald reported the whole protest, was as if they personally were responsible for organising it . Made front page news, and there was also a dedicated page with smaller sets of information.

To be frank, this seems to be a futile exercise like the "hanging bridge of KR Puram". Even the NHAI is not convinced with this grand plan by the state government. Looks like the political class in Karnataka are a special variety. No where else I have seen the political classes totally ignorant of the feelings of the general public.

New pedestrian underpass work starts between MVIT Cross & Bettahalasur Cross on Bellary Road. Proper diversionary lane markings have been made and should mean only a couple of minutes delay for users.
