Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Doesn't look like a lot of damage to the basic structure of the cars.
Hopefully the people in the Omni made it out safely.

Seems like a low speed crash to me. Or else that tin-can Omni would have crumpled like paper.

According to newspapers/TV, G wagon was being driven rashly and Omni toppled because of the impact and landed on its roof. People from the Omni were pulled out by passerby people. All are safe though!

More info from Mirror.

I believe the G63 is a poor handler, despite the AMG treatment. Those jumping in it after driving modern luxury cars are in for a nasty surprise. Too much power in the wrong car, if you ask me.

Agreed. But, the G oozes with character that modern cars can't match.

The G is a terrible car overall, compared to other cars in the AMG range, the hidden gem is the GLA 45, its as fast or faster than the others upto about 120kmph, which is bascially all you need in the city. I think it would even match the AMG GT upto 60-70kmph.

The G sells on nostalgia, those who aspired for it in the 70s and 80s now have the money to buy one. In any case, I think non AMG G wagons are better cars.

As far as power goes, the G is not very fast, neither in acceleration nor top speed. it just needs so many of those AMG horses to move its bulk and overcome the brick like aerodynamics.

I drove the G55 here. I loved the noise and the character but it was a handful driving fast on mountain roads. I wonder how the other journalists actually managed to push it hard. Understeered and crashy suspension. I will not argue about its off-road credentials though.

Hanmust who owns an old 300GD remarked, the G350 diesel is sufficient for the chassis.

The G-wagon is best for the city drive only. Has very good road presence and sounds incredible with the sports exhaust and all, but that's about it. One shouldn't drive above 70kmph in this car and restrict taking it on our highways at all. Any sudden maneuver could be risky and this car isn't the safest compared to others in it's class.

I have always wanted to buy one of these, specially the crazy color editions. The SA who sold me the CLA invited me to take a drive in one when it was available. I drove it for just 3-4 kms and was truly surprised by how bad it was. You'd have hold on for your life while cruising at 90 kmph over minor undulations in the flyovers and dare to take a slight bend at speeds over 60kmph.
I'd heard it's not a good drivers car and handles like a boat et al but never thought it'd be this HORRIBLE.
I felt really bad for the AMG instructor who had to drive the G63 at BIC as the lead car while we were following him in the C63s.

Oh my ! Looks bad!! Hope no one was seriously injured? As far as I know, that M5 belonged to a well known person in Mumbai.

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

It looks like the temple junction . Dumb Indian mentality of " I own the road" and not ollowing the signal lead to this accident I am sure. This invariably happens on palm beach road. To sum up rich idiots too much money no brains .

Any idea how did the crash happen?

I got these pics over whatsapp as well. Apparently it is a 2017 GTR (Bangalore car) and shares garage with a BMW M5.
