Works either ways for me - not sure of current road conditions to Pondy. But, I recall doing it in 6'ish hours the last time I drove there (2 yrs ago).
Anyway, the meet is more what I look forward to, so I'm ok with Chikmagalur or any other place as well

Update:
I got the feedback and a positive one. BHPian UB_007 just returned from this home stay(makki thitta) and he has told me that it can accommodate a maximum of 70 people.

It seems It has got 6 rooms with 5 beds it seems and some others with around 3 beds

Definitely true, it shouldn't take more than 6 hours ideally. My only concern was about exhaustion if its a 1N/2D trip, since even families will be involved this time. A beach would have been fantastic though, weather also now would have been ideal for some watersports.

Saturday early morning, lets say 5:30am(IST)

The place is Chikmagalur, resort name is Eagle Eye Resort, very close to Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, sending detail mail to all participants in a sort while.

260km should be done in 4 hrs, with breaks, thats about 75kmph, will make all happy. Meeting point NH4-NH48 Junction, after taking left turn from NH4. We must leave that point by 6:30am. Lunch will be waiting for us at resort.

I had been to this place 3yrs back, the person who runs this homestay is amazing and food also is too good. Basically this is a house which converted to homestay. May be now they have expanded. View is also very nice. There is also a homestay at walkable distance, so we also can think of staying in two diff place, if we could not find any other option :(
