But since I left India, a lot has happened with the XUV with respect to recall, part changes as preventive measures, etc. Now, I am coming back to India soon and the first thing I intend to do is - take the XUV to the A.S.S. and get all the nasty or troublesome parts replaced.
Can you guys give me a list of all the issues I should look for, whether it is the brakes or lights or software upgrade of the infotainment system or even synthetic oil for the gearbox. I mean, I want to list out all the items which can probably go wrong and get them rectified once and for all in my car.
A few of the issues I recollect are:
1) Brake grinding noise - change to Galfer brake pads
2) LEDs in headlights going kaput
3) New ORVMs with improved stoppers
4) New wiper blades (recall)
5) Clutch (can someone remind me what the exact issue was!)
6) Software upgrade of Infotainment system
7) Synthetic oil for gearbox
8) Siren touching belt
9) New brake pedals |
Got my car on Aug 15th, 2012. So most probably ours would be in the same batch.
General work /replacements done on mine were
1. Brake pads. Checked regarding the brake pedal and the RM mentioned that my batch of cars had the new ones.
2. Front power window motors (both doors)
3. Software upgrade
4.Oil change during the first service
5. Regarding wiper blades, I had replaced the front wiper blades with Bosch ones early itself at a Bosch store. This required removing the big covers over the wipers also. So now the wipers system is just the basic wiper blades, which I believe is lighter and maybe better for the glass. RM mentioned that since I am not using the default wipers right now, nothing to be changed here. So thought I will get it done later sometime when I am there at the service centre in person. Hence am not sure what is the part replaced in the wiper as part of recall.
Just for everyones info: Advantage the guys at Bosch mentioned was that the default ones were one sided model, which meant water will be wiped properly only when it swung upwards. The one I got installed were 2 sided, which meant water would be wiped fully in both directions. Since the comments were made by the authorised Bosch centre, I believe there could be some fact.
5. Multiple wheel alignments (Its far better than the initial days, still I would not say it is perfect)
6. Thud from front left suspension. Sorted out 4-5 months back and so far all the suspensions are good as expected
7. Gear shift was a mess for sometime with difficulty in slotting to 1st, 2nd and reverse gears. Again got it sorted out after a couple of running repair visits to the service centre, to my satisfaction.

9. Some rattling noises when driving - front windows when rolled down 30-50%, the cluster hood above the speedo meter.
8. Power steering hose (as part of recall)
9. Cruise control cluster switch on steering replaced (Dont think it is a common problem)
So your car also most probably would have most of the similar issues plus the car to car specific ones.
