one more thing i forgot to ask was if any other voice alerts like the scorpio has- such as fuel reserve, door open, etc are also added?

Confirmed: Door Open audio warning has been added with this update. Though it does not say which door.
I think even fuel low should also be there as in Scorpio, not tested yet.

I went to the service centre recently and was told that my MMI can not be upgraded to Version 9x as they had some hardware failure issues as a result of this upgrade. My vehicle is Dec 2014 make. I was told that the upgrade can only be made if M&M authorises replacement of the silver box. Has anyone else encountered this?

10K service upgrade

The tyres were rotated. No vehicle alignment report was given. The vehicle started to drift strongly to the right side.

Took it back and also complained about a noise that I suspected came from near the B pillar on the right hand side. They said the noise came from the brake area on the right hand side, dismantled the whole thing including suspension, replaced the lower arm, etc and after about 10 hours of trying, said that I need to leave the vehicle there overnight. This 'shooting in the dark' process of diagnosis was quite offputting. The next day someone else looked into the issue and said that the noise in fact was coming from the LEFT side.

The vehicle was delivered late evening, with a vehicle alignment report. Some values were out of the normal range mentioned. Then I found that the vehicle was drifting to the left. Some serious talk with the M&M person resulted in the vehicle being taken to another service location of the same company. Now the vehicle is back, with another alignment report, with some values out of range. Have not checked on the drift issue as I have only been driving in Bangalore traffic since I got the vehicle back.

Incidentally, the delivery driver synched his own phone to the ICE - I discovered this only when I had an incoming call while driving and could not talk on the bluetooth.

A great vehicle, but with some unpleasant ownership experience because of the service quality.

Thanks!

I got my XUV's software updated as well, but I haven't managed to get the audible warning. Did this come on by default or did you have to manually enable it?
Can you please post a pic of the software version?
I did update on my w8 over the weekend but did not find any audible warning. My RM does not seem to aware of this feature. However found the display of external temp a welcome change. But earlier when we use the auto wiper there used to be a display at the bottom indicating the wiper on status. This is gone now.. There is no way to find the status of auto wiper

Do you have an image of the display indicating the auto wiper on status? I do not see any image of the auto wiper status on my April 2015 XUV.

Also what temperature display are you mentioning about? It is already there right

Sorry I do not have a picture of the wiper status. It used to be a small icon at the bottom bar. Regarding temp earlier it used to display only the internal temperature but now it displays both internal and external temperatures always. Mine is not a new age xuv.

If you look at this image, it is displaying both outside and inside temperature, there is no signs of the auto wiper status. Even mine is not a new age XUV.

Anybody with the old gen XUV can confirm if this was the case with their cars.

I started seeing this in my xuv after the update to maps 9 and update to the infotainment software this weekend. Till then ext temp was not there and used to get the status of auto wiper when it is switched on

Guess the software was updated in the last batch of XUV's to display both the temperatures. Apart from this what all update does the new software has?

I am planning to give my car for second service tomorrow or day after, should I ask them for an update?

This is not an acceptable answer. In cases where the software upgrades require a change of the silver box, Mahindra is required to do so. Take this up with the M&M Customer Service and drop them a mail, things will happen then.

Cant agree more. For my 20K service, I stood by my vehicle while it was being serviced. Everything was very meticulously and professionally done. Cool guys...

I have not seen anything else visible apart from this. It is always good to update the software if one is provided.

Any clue on whether the update can be installed on a Jan 2013 make xuv? The service guys were saying that so far, they don't have any update and I'd have to ask nippon. They said they'd get it by end of the month.

Also, I just found out that the outside temperature sensor is located in the right side ORVM. So if it goes kaput, you have to replace the entire mirror unit. Not a smart move no?
