You will have to ship it to a friend in the US who will have to transport it here.

ebay India has it too but it costs nearly twice the amount

My cars a Ritz Diesel VDI ABS. I have tried it on the Hyundai i10 too. Connects with the same ease.

Was this screen shot taken after a cold start? I'm asking as the battery voltage seems a tad bit high.

Edit: Also the engine load value seems like a cold start.

Yes it was taken after a cold start. I am not conversant with the technical data though.
Is there anyway I could update my knowledge. I sure will enjoy this more if I am able to decipher more data.

What data do you want to decipher? All those values are pretty much self explanatory.

I think the same product is available on aliexpress with free shipping to India. You can also see a lot of similar models for OBD2 adapters.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Works...719621571.html

There is also a supposedly newer mini version(v 1.5).

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Can anyone confirm if the ELM327 v1.5 works with Hondas here in India?

For 10 something USD it's not a bad price, is what I think.

This might be a fundamental question, but do the use of these devices in any way pose risk of warranty terms violation?

~I drive a skoda yeti and tend to be hyper-worried of warranty violation!

OBD2 for SX4 VVT

Hello all,

from the replies here, I am confused whether SX4 VVT is OBD2 compliant or not.
If any one is using it on SX4 VVT grateful if you could indicate the port location.

I intend to use el cheapo Zync tablet that I gifted my wife an year ago which we are using for Navigation. This one has blouetooth.
For front end I am thinking of BOSCH app but before buying anything wanted to make sure someone has used this successfully in SX4 VVT.

Rgds

OBD reader clones talked by most people here are just the read only devices, means you are not writing/modifying anything on the ECUm you are just using the OBD reader to read values. So no chance of warranty violation.

Another thing to be noted is that most of the cars come with OBD-2 ports today and that is because many countries have some rules/norms, hence manufactures have to provide an easy accessible universal connectivity port so that users can read through that easily. pollutions norms are main reason behind this, so that values of CO2 etc can be read easily.

I hope that clears your doubt

These devices are, in the broader sense, read-only. They do not modify any vital parameters that are set by the manufacturer. So, you are not going to have any warranty related problems because you use an OBD scanner

Capt.Jack Sparrow, you are partially right. They write to the ECU also - that's what you do when you Clear any error codes. AFAIK, they do not modify any other areas in the memory.

Assuming you have a Ritz, refer this pic

Attachment 1047347

Probe with your hands, and you can find the OBD port there. Difficult to see it clearly unless you make room for yourself and bend down.

Could you try it on a swift diesel and let us know if it works.

Is there any thing like this available for IOS ?
Also we might not be able to connect that device via bluetooth to iphones , so any alternatives.

Cheers

Nothing for now Sir. I'm also eagerly waiting for a proper app like torque, for iOS.

re: OBD (On-board diagnostics) for Indian Cars

Got my ELM327 from dealextreme for USD14. Tried pairing it with my Galaxy tab 6200 running android 4.0.4 and after trying all bluetooth pin combinations gave up thinking that it may be a problem with the ELM327 itself.

Google search revealed that it is a known issue with 4.0.4.

Tried connecting to another phone of mine running 2.3 and it worked on the first try itself. Yet to try out all the supported parameters using 'torque'.
