Verna Trouble!

hellstar IMHO you should have gone for ford fiesta or honda city ZX nevertheless hyuandai does have a big network and so excellent A.S.S is expected.

I will agree with all of the above. Except for the really bad drivers seat (something that is corrected in the Xi version) i think it's a smooth powerful nice car.
I have used it for 7K kms and I get an average of 13-14Kmpl. I dunno about 18.

I'll still say it's a good car.

Thanks SAM for the info, maybe it was a freak case afterall, but with your kind of contacts in the automotive industry, your car should be replaced. LOL

What will us common folks do if god forbid - we have a problem like yrs !!

Like sam said, its a one off problem and these can crop up with any manufacturer.

Engage their warranty and get them rectified. I know is disheartening but we have to get them corrected first.

Yeah I guess that is right. Fortunately I have had no problem so far. BTW having owned 6 Hyundais in the past I cannot think of buying any other car except Hyundai. I do not know but I seem to have that peace of mind thing after owning hyundai. Their cars are generally '' non bonet opening '' mantainance free.

To be fair, Sam didnt have to open his car's bonnet either. It was an axle issue

Different segments and hence the price.

Optra, if you occasionally drive and is also driven around by a chauffeur.

A close friend did exactly that Sam & on my insistent advice decided to TD the Magnum but came away severely disappointed with the Turbo lag. He's sticking to his choice of the Verna CRDi now!

Well.. , I'm in the market for a diesel, and i'm completely confused over whether to go for the fiesta or verna. Is the axle problem being reported quite often even outside the forum?

With the fiesta i'm scared about the A.S.S and the maintainance costs. Is the huge maintainance costs of ford a myth?

Also a friend of mine was sayin that he's heard from a hyundai mechanic that verna has some engine problem or piston problem or sumething related. Dint really understand. Is there any truth to this??

All things considered, would it be a mistake to go in for a verna. I really prefer hyundai over ford. I'm intending to keep this car for a long time ( over 5 years definitely ) and releability and maintainance costs are sumthing that matter to me a lot.

Going to take a test drive tomorrow.

I agree. Am on my second Hyundai, the first was a Santro. The Santro never died on me, did all that I expected it to do, and even had it's original tyres and battery when I sold it after 63 months.
My Getz is pretty much the same.
Now this report from Sam is really worrying. Please let us know how it pans out. It would be sad to see the Hyundai reliability take a knock.
