Odd! I have a 2007 Civic and I have an Aux-In port.

Anyway, for about Rs. 1,000, you can buy a USB FM transmitter from any car accessories shop. Your USB stick containing MP3 songs goes into the FM transmitter which in turn plugs into the 12V socket. The device then acts like a mini-FM station - just tune in you radio to the frequency of the transmitter and you are good to go.

Mine is the SMT and has only a dummy slot/port not the cable inside.

Yes one can use the modulator but don't you think the loss in quality is very high?

Yeah, but only on inexpensive FM transmitters - and that too, only within city limits. Too many FM stations in a city like Mumbai might interfere with the signals of the little FM transmitter. The cheap ones work very well on the highways though.

If sound quality is a priority, either buy the most expensive one at the local car accessories shop or import a high-end Soundfly FM Transmitter (from 20North.com - you pay in Rupees). Soundfly works well within city limits too, and costs around $50. The signals are so powerful that a car following yours can also latch on to your FM signals - fun/interesting when 2 cars are going to the same destination.

As I said, this one is pretty good (for the money you pay) for the highways. But within city, you very occasionally hear some static (disturbance).

But now I'm using $80 Satechi Sound-Fly USB To Aux-In/FM Convertor -





Since I have a Aux-In port, I connect the USB stick to the Aux-In port through this device for the highest possible sound quality. This also has a FM transmitter.

But if you don't have a Aux-In port, you can buy a normal Sound-Fly USB to FM transmitter (costs around $50-$60 I think).

A question around the Civc's rear suspension issues. What's the technical difference between the pre and post facelift models' rear suspensions? Stiffness of the springs, or something more? Since the newer civics don't have the problem of scraping every bump, was wondering if switching to the newer, stiffer OE springs would solve the problem for the older breed. What would be the costs involved for the springs alone? And would this be a safer and longer lasting way of tackling the issue than using the spring coil adjusters that have become pretty popular?
Perhaps it's not that simple, else many might have opted for this... but just curious!

EDIT: apparently there is a difference in the mounts, so slapping on the new springs may not be feasible (missed this post, it's a long thread! :http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ml#post2451960)
So I guess those adjusters are best (cheap) bet?

I do not think they have changed the dampers and possibly the springs. Just changed the mounting points.

Today while driving back home in the afternoon, I noticed that the engine revs suddenly shot up by around 800-1000 rpm for a moment and then settled back again. This was moments after an up-shift, and lasted only for a fraction before settling down. Initially I dismissed this thinking I had mistimed my clutch release and acceleration, but when it happened a couple of times more I was observant and yes I had done nothing wrong with the clutch or the accelerator. Has anyone else noticed a similar thing?

My Civic has just had its 100,000 km service. The car is still fun to drive so I have been faithfully getting even minor problems fixed through an ASC with Apex Honda in Mumbai.

For about the last 15,000-20,000 km, the garage had been reporting minor steering oil leakage but it was negligible and did not require top-up during service intervals. However, the day after the 100,000 km service, I noticed both an engine whine as well as some oil below the parked car. Apex claims leakage at 3 places, including steering pump and rack. Replacement will cost 60-70k.

I would be grateful for recommendations about independent garages (particularly Honda specialists) in Pedder Road/Opera House area.

Am not an expert, but my experience says, check the throttle body. My Palio had once developed a problem in the middle of the highway when the revs refused to go down. Replacement cost 14K. Later, in my Optra, I had the very problem that you experienced. Revs would go up for a few seconds and then die down. They cleaned the throttle body during the next service and the problem got sorted out.

I remember one Bhpian posting that all Civic models have Aux capable ICE. Honda being Honda doesn't give the AUX port in all the models.You need to connect an Aux cable and use any MP3 player . Won't that be a better option than buying an FM transmitter and facing the issues brought out in last few posts?

I also have a similar opinion. However my knowledge is limited in quality and quantity. So pardon me for inaccurate statements.

I request people's views on the need for having an FM transmitter. My 2007 Civic already has an Aux port and an FM radio. On the other hand it does not have a USB port which I sorely miss.

Which, you think, is the most convenient way to connect and play a USB drive in a Civic which only has an Aux port?

I have fairly limited knowledge about this stuff but once I connected my mobile to a PA system (with AUX in) with an AUX cable. Since you already have AUX port you only need an AUX cable and use either your mobile or any MP3 player.

Called the SA at HASS to inquire about the issue. He suggested that the clutch may be an issue, but I actually am very happy with the clutch now after making three trips to the HASS to get it set right. So the last I would want is for them to fiddle with the clutch again. It's just right now and giving me a better mileage too (the last it returned was 11.75 kmpl 30% highway and rest city driving). Finally decided to wait and watch till the next service and will see if the problem persists or occurs more frequently.
