Looks like this is a design issue. I had mentioned this issue to TASC during the second service. They took a look at it and said that a clamp has come out and they tightened the same. I was in a hurry to get the car out as the worskhop was closed the next day and did not check much. This issue has accentuated now. So hope to take care of it in the next service.

OT: TASC claimed that they will charge me 150 Rupees for opening the nuts/bolts on the suspension. Their rationale was that, the nuts & bolts holding the suspension are caked with mud/rust and there is a risk of the nuts & bolts breaking during opening. I laughed it off saying that this will have to be borne by them and not me. In the end they did not charge me for this

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

I am having this issue with the black plastic rails which are on the roof of the car. They seem to be coming out. Can anyone suggest whats to be done. Is this a DIY or should I leave it to the TASC folks. Pls help.

3rd Service - Need advise

Hi All,

I am overdue for my 3rd service (ODO @ 10.3K is fine but its 1.5 years now) and contacted Concorde in Chennai.

I was told that Tata Motors now recommends Synthetic oil and the oil change would be done using the Synthetic oil and not the Castrol oil as per the service book. He quoted that the synthetic oil would cost Rs. 4.5K ++

Please suggest,

Thanks,
M

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

The cost looks fine, but I was specifially told by the TASC that synthetic oil is NOT allowed for quadrajet (I presume you own a quadrajet). Would make sense to check with them once again.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

On Sunday, I made a 100 km trip to Thiruvallur. Vista's AC Performance was not up to the mark in spite of having CR70 on front windshield.. Yesterday went to Concorde ECR to get this sorted out. I thought the ECU update would probably resolve the issue.

Service adviser informed me that most of the 2009 / 2010 Vista's ECU updated with low AC cut-off (6 or 7 deg. C) when it comes for regular service. They cleaned the AC Filter and bingo...the air throw is fantastic now...

Does anyone know how to do this AC filter cleaning as DIY...?

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

there is absolutely no need for synthetic. they're just trying to rip you off. even in petrol engines, the difference is marginal. Absolutely no need to pour synth in a diesel.

if they insist, go to another TASC

Are you sure that they told you that Synthetic is not allowed for QJD? Synthetic is the only recommended oil on Manza and the new Vista. Perhaps the TASC is confusing synthetic with fuel additives like System D which is not recommended for QJD as per the manual.

There is a blower filter in vista. The TASS has cleaned the filter and the air flow was clear and the problem fixed.

asbalaji, do you mean to say the air throw has improved even in the re-circulation mode? As far as I know there is an air filter that filters air when on fresh air mode; this is by-passed when on re-circulation mode.

BTW, does anyone know to clean/ replace this filter DIY? please share with us

Yes. 100%. I checked this at 2 TASC's in Mumbai. At one place I even directly asked for the quote for synthetic oil and I was told that Synthetic would not work for the Vista QJD!

I wouldnt believe this. The Swift and punto has the same engine and they very well use the synthetic. Using synthetic is not going to harm, but on the contrary only help. Read the thread about diesel engine oils for more info around this.
I would say you spoke to the wrong people.

I don't think so. VST Motors Chennai recommended me to change over to synthetic for my 2009 Vista QJD but I didn't. The service advisor also told me that the 2010 Vistas came with synthetic oil filled in the factory.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hi all proud Indica vista owners , Here I come after hell lot of thoughts I am a proud owner of a Indica Vista Terra (I exchanged my 100000 kms clocked 1989 Maruti 800)

As of now I am happy , I have my own practical Ideas to go for an Indica Vista.

My primary objective was to go for a Swift Vdi , but almost all delars from trivandrum to thrissur were demanding 6to 8 months booking period. with no perks like fittings and other cosmetics. no exchange bonus , they were quoting 15,000 INR for ma 1989 model M800

At the same time , Kulathungal motors at Trivandrum offered 25,000 INR for my 1 lakh clocked 1989 model M800 plus 25,000 exchange bonus plus 15,000 cash discount and 3000 corporate bonus

They also gave me remote locking , seat covers , steering grip , floor mats , mud flaps , car perfume , LHS ORVM and the fitting costs (1000 INR) free of cost. They also provided me 18 liters of diesel coupon free of cost.

The things which I was not satisfied with Kulathungal motors was the delivery process , no one explained me about the warranty.

If I do an ICE from an out side resaler does that void the warranty ?

If I go for mag wheels with out changing tires does that void the warranty of the car ?

I trust fiat engine and the drive tech technology , which over ride the Swiftomania , better view(while reversing) and seating is only possible in a Vista

ICE from outside reseller would void warranty only if any wires are cut or the electricals tampered with. But thesedays, the ICE fitters dont cut wires. Instead, they use clips to dig into the wires and get power/connectivity.

New Mag wheels on existing tyres wont void warrnty. Not sure of upsizing though. Better get that checked out.

All the best!

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hey, anyone has got hold of Center Armrest for the Vista? I've been searching for it in JC Road, Blore and all I get is black color which wont fit in Vista (looking for beige, dont remember the manufacturer but its chinese make.) or a crude local make. I really feel the need of one. Any pointers would help.
